Bro 2019 LSU is the greatest team to ever walk the earth! Thy would murder the 85 bears, and every Saban and Kirby team!

I feel like '21 UGA was better than '22, even though they had a loss. I will feel the same way about OSU '24 v '25, even if '25 runs the table.

Won't get much argument from me

The '22 team had arguably the greatest assembly of defensive talent ever and was a top-5 defense all-time.

They beat

#1 Texas (currently 17)
#17 Illinois (currently 21)

They play
#18 Michigan
Likely #2 Indiana

Then #8/9 OU/ND
Then #4/5 UGA/TTU
Then #2 Texas A&M (at best, #11 Miami at worst)

So the will end with (maybe)
4 “Top 5” wins
7 “Top 25” wins

I recognize the sarcasm but believe 2019 LSU actually would beat the 1985 Bears in a time machine game.

1995 Nebraska had/faced 2 players who would be drafted in the first round the following spring. 2019 LSU had/faced 18 players who would do the same.

55 - 19 USC over Oklahoma in 2005 was never in doubt. SC beat Oklahoma like a baby harp seal, crushed their dreams.

No competition this year so don’t think so (and I’m a buckeye sympathizer)

1985 Bears starting OL:

LT Jumbo Covert: 6’4” 271 lbs.
LG: Mark Bortz: 6’6” 282 lbs.
C: Jay Hilgenberg: 6’3” 250 lbs.
RG: Tom Thayer: 6’4” 261 lbs.
RT: Keith Van Horne: 6’6’ 265 lbs.

Average: 6’4.6 265.8 lbs.

2019 LSU starting OL

LT Saahdiq Charles: 6’5” 328 lbs.
LG Adrian Magee: 6’4” 324 lbs.
C: Lloyd Cushenberry: 6’3’ 310 lbs.
RG: Damien Lewis: 6’3” 320 lbs.
RT Austin Deculus: 6’5” 321 lbs.

Average: 6’4” 320.6 lbs.

The 1985 Bears 46 defense got picked apart by the only team with an offensive system in any way similar to modern schemes.

The 1985 Bears would not beat a great modern college team.

Burrow would be on a stretcher in the 2nd quarter against 85 Bears. You could actually touch the quarterback in the 80s! It was great.

If you think a team with an OL giving up 55 lbs. per man to the opposition and 35 years behind in scheme and technique evolution is going to win, you’re not too bright.
