My grandpa is 79 and has been playing since he was about 15 and he's never hit one. So I realize how rare they are, but I just can't get over how everything played out.. Ball goes in, got it on camera, won a car and some dough.
I was in such disbelief when it happened that I couldn't calm my nerves to tee off on the next hole.

Jealous of the hole in one.

Not jealous of that swing. What? Are you using junior clubs? You look so hunched over it's like Elvis trying to bear down and pinch a loaf so hard he had a heart attack and died.

You're right about the swing. I didn't realize I did that until I saw the video. My clubs were bought right off the shelf at Academy Sports about 7 yrs ago before I really knew much about club fitting. My next investment is a new set the fit me.

Congrats!

I've seen my dad ace three times. I had one at the Detroit GC (North course #15) about 25 years ago. Was more excited about any of my dad's than I was mine. But it is awesome that split second before the ball drops in the hole and you realize you just aced it.

Congrats on the hole in one, car, cash, and luckily having the taxes paid. And thank you for your service! This is an awesome story all around.

Distance was 135yds, I used a 9 Iron.

How come any tournament I play in that's giving away a car, they pick the longest par 3? I think the shortest I've ever tried to win one on was about 170.

nonetheless, congrats on the Hole in One.

I always thought they had to be atleast 150+ yds to even qualify, but I ain't arguing.

I guess just the surprise of it all may have made him cut it off, not sure. Distance was 135yds, I used a 9 Iron.

They were giving away a car for a 135 yard par 3??

Damn, that hole in one insurance had to be pricey. Usually it's 180+ yard holes with a tucked pin.
