Utter nonsense. As far as being a used car salesman, Les Miles isn't...Little Nicky is. Apparently, you like the fast talkers who don't say anything worth remembering.

speaking eloquence.

good communication skills conveys to your audience, confidence, you know what the hell you are doing.

i enjoy the hell out of listening to coach saban's radio show on wednesdays.

i was at walk-on's for Les' first ever radio show....he bored the crap out of us.

i'm not saying he is a bad coach, but when he speaks he really does come off as a doofus. miles really isn't that bad of a coach...but it's brutal to hear him talk.

i remember sometimes at the end of Saban's radio shows he'd hype the crowd up. Les was kind of put on the spot last week on his show, about giving a pep talk to the fans....and he couldn't deliver.

Dude you have to be kidding right? I don't really like the guy but he turns around 3 programs has a MNC and will probably get another at BAMA.

Guy is a prick. He micro manages everything down to the water girls. He demands excellence from his players 7 days a week. Practice doesn't make perfect--perfect practice makes perfect.

Saban has always impressed me with pushing his players more during the off season than most college coaches. A lot of our players physically looked like NFL players in college and LSU rarely looked like tired team in the 4th quarter under Saban

I think it's a grass-is-always greener thing, like how you miss your ex-girlfriend that you didn't really like that much at the time. But Saban's players got roasted just like everybody else, which is why his bowl record wasn't that good. Hell, you remember Utah, right? Iowa? Texas?

Yeah, I noticed that too. And I don't remember little Nicky dominating Kentucky, Iowa, UAB, ULM, Oregon State, Arkansas, Oregon State, and a bunch of other teams including Troy State.

LSU was loaded when he took over, and he didn't overly impress me. He impressed at Michigan St, but not as much as Miles at OSU. He failed in the NFL. But yeah, he's kicking arse at Bama, but I'm not sold that it's going to last... but who knows, maybe he is peaking right now.

Meyers has a Great system and Tebow was the perfect Qb to run it. I think that Tebow has allowed Urban Meyers to recruit the types of players he wants. the offense he runs is crazy.

Saban is the best recruiter around i think. and a great evaluator of talent. just knows what to get and who fits best for him.

This. Saban has won games in which listening to him speak after the game you would have thought we lost cause our play was not up to par. By the same token you hear Les happy that we achieved victory.

Its called Obsessive Compulsive Personality disorder. They Obsess over everthing, and are never satisfied, even with certain perfection. They will have many problems with perception, and will be called assholes or pricks at times, becuase of details, like certain public relations or personal relations, they don't feel are that important. But in there profession, their ability to obcess, will keep them at the top. They will watch play after play,to see if a D-backs eyes are on the recievers hips, and which shoulder is where during a seemingly meaningless play. Its what separates them from the pack.

Miles isn't getting paid to entertain you like Bozo the Clown/little Nicky. Why don't you check out the recruiting board here and read the post by Zach Lee's father about Les Miles and how that was a key selling point to Zach....his intregrity...his honesty, etc. It is in the thread called "Zach Lee is the real deal." I bet Zach Lee doesn't end up obtaining text books illegally like Alabama players did last year, violating NCAA rules.

I don't get it.

it's pretty simple...

one type of coach understands what it takes to be a champion, and works backwards defining every step it takes to get there. Everything is measured against those steps.

the other type believes that if you set goals and work hard every day, good things will happen. If there are issues, you just have to work harder.

It's a subtle difference...but pretty powerful

Saban did a great job in Mich St and Miami.

Michigan St was 10-2 his last year there with a Cap One Bowl win against Steve Spurrier after he left for Baton Rouge. Michigan St hasn't been anywhere close to that good since he left.

Miami went from one of the worst records in the league to .500 in his first year. And we all know that Saban's heart and head weren't into his 2nd season in Miami since he was flirting with Bama for the last month of the season.

Bama went from shambles to the best team in the country (IMO) in less than 3 years once he got there.

For anyone to say he/she isn't sold on Saban, you're either in denial or a fricking dumbass.

He didn't turn around the Dolphins did he? They won 1 more game than the year before. He never won the Big 10 while at MSU did he?

The average star rankings of his recruiting classes at LSU weren't on the level as the ones Miles has gotten.

Thing about Saban, he's a guy who sells kids on an agressive defensive scheme. He is able to get the top recruits early on to build a program b/c he sells playing time in an aggressive scheme.

He motivates out of pure fear (yells, screams, etc). Psychology tells us that fear is an excellent motivator, in the short run. But as soon as the kids lose confidence, be it a loss or two that should not have happened, they start to see the chinks in the armor.

Then, all that fear, becomes anger and snide cynicism toward the coach, and he loses the team. That's why he's an excellent transition coach (short term), but not all that good of a manager of a team.

Let Bama have their fun with him for 1 - 2 more years, then they will see the pattern develop. Sit back, relax and hope LSU is the team that delivers the final death blow when it comes ... and it will come.

I don't remember "Saban's players" puking on the field in the 4th quarter. As for Saban losing a few he should have won, great coaches don't always win all the time. No coach does.

Has Miles ever gone an entire season w/out losing at least 2 games he should have won?

Michigan State was an outstanding team during Saban's last year there. They beat the crap out of Florida in the Citrus Bowl, I believe.

Alabama wasn't down that long before Saban. If I remember right, Mike Shula has a year a couple of years before he got fired when he started like 10-0 or something. So, don't act like Alabama had been wandering in the wilderness for a decade...not true.
