Damn this is clever, definitely will use if the situation ever arises.

Also I've been going to MLB/Astros games every year since I was 8 and have never caught a foul ball. I'll be damned if I'm giving it to someone else's kid just because he's sitting there. Just because I'm 25 doesn't mean I don't want mementos.

Kids trying to get a ball is fun for them. a-hole parents telling other parents to give their kid the ball not so much. How does she know that you did not have a kid at home that you were going to take the ball too?

what? a baseball? give a kid the ball; it will be cherished by him for decades. it's only a friggin' ball

To be fair, that kid will lose that baseball within three days.

Also, it's more of a memory if the kid actually catches/retrieves the ball as opposed to it being handed to him by a total stranger IMO.

But that being said, I'd give it to a kid as well.

i mean I’m not going to fight some kid for it but if I catch one expecially at a pro game I’m keeping it. Don’t care who asks for it. Been trying to catch one my whole life. Have come close a few times

I once saw a grown lady beg Phil Michelson for a ball at
a tournament once.

Held out her hand and said "Phil wouldn't you like to give that ball away" which he promptly replied, "You're right I would" and he handed it to a kid on the other side of the walk-way.

I became a Phil Michelson fan after that for life, screw what they say about the gambling, insider trading, blow and hkrs...he's ok with me!

If its a foul ball, I'm probably throwing it to a nearby kid unless its off the bat of a legend who is retiring that year.

If its a home run, I'm keeping it for my team, and throwing it back for the other

If it's a home run to win World Series Game 7 for the Astros? I'm knocking that kid out of the Crawford boxes to catch it.

I thought about that the other day when I saw an old Arkansas man give a foul ball to a little girl. I bet she will remember that for a long time, maybe forever. That’s a gift itself.

But this kid wins...

There will be downvotes aplenty and people making "get off my lawn" jokes, but I am on your side. I hate going to a ball game and every damned kid thinks he is entitled to a baseball every time a player walks by. Or when watching batting practice hearing every little bastard holler for a ball every single time one is nearby.

Same question back at you for the home run ball which you've decided is OK.

Do you not understand the difference? I would absolutely try to get it autographed and usually you can get it tagged or authenticated.Who GAS about a foul
ball that's autographed...you ctan just buy a game ball and get it autographed.

quote:

The modern sports market depends on authentication. MLB authenticators are at every World Series game, attaching unique hologram stickers to just about everything used, from bases to buckets of dirt to balls. While the MLB website asserts that they don't authenticate balls for fans, Davis says that in practice, the on-site authenticators will hologram the ball for you even if you don't relinquish it. Without a hologram, it would be difficult to sell the ball for anything near its potential value.

There's also 4 authenticators at every MLB game.

I was excited until a kids fat mother, that was sitting next to me, told me i should give it to her son.

I’m pretty hardcore on always give foul balls to kids, but if this happened there’s no way in hell THAT kid is getting the ball.

Did you have rude parents growing up? Did you get cut from a CYO league or were always the last one to get picked during a P.E. pick up game? I'd rather give a ball that i caught to any child around me who's parents got them out of the house instead of letting them get fat , and being addicted to video games. Society needs more young boys and girls attending ball games. Its wholesome, and most of all, its constructive.

Not the kid's fault if parents are douches.

Freddie Freeman gave my 8 year old a ball and it is her most prized possession a lot of nights she sleeps with it and it damn near brings tears to my eyes. Glad your punk arse didn’t get it.
