I must have been working my arse off that fall and winter because I don't remember much about it other than Weinke won the Heisman. I remember the seasons before and after well but not 2000.

Looking back at the Wikis, the first thing I noticed is that FSU scored 2 points in the championship game and that there was no good answer to who should have played Oklahoma.

Washington seemed to have the best case because they beat the Canes, who beat the Noles but the Huskies were 4th in the BCS because they lost to Oregon, who were 10th.

Also, there was only 1 SEC team ranked in the final BCS poll, Florida at 7.

That OU team was stacked with future coaches with Mangino, Venables, Mike Stoops and Heupel at QB.

Yep. Only loss was at Washington by a field goal. Win that, and they would have played OU in the title game.

Yes, their only loss was on a last second field goal against UDub

Then they trashed ND in the Fiesta Bowl and got a million personal fouls in the process

Petros was the USC captain... all you really need to know about that team.

Alabama ran UCLA's first punt of the year back for a TD. That's all I got.

I remember being shut out by both Auburn and Southern Miss at home. That Southern Miss game was absolutely embarrassing.

I remember it because it was the first year I was old enough to actually remember watching, following, and understanding South Carolina football. We were 0-21 going into that season but finished 8-4 with an Outback Bowl win vs OSU. That 0 wins to 8 wins was one of the largest turnaround ins CFB history.

It also cemented my hatred for Clemson. There was an OPI that wasn't called that lead to their game-winning FG. I can still see the play in my head and where I was when I watched it to this day. And I was only a kid.

ETA: I still remember the footage of us tearing the goal posts down after beating freakin' NM State because it broke the losing streak and then the 5 INTs we had in our win vs UGA the following week.

Saban's first year at LSU.

Rohan with the game winner over Tenn on the first play of OT. Youtube LINK Ron Franklin on the call!

And then Ro off the bench in the 2nd half of the Peach Bowl ftw. Good times.

(it's nuts that Miami lost a game that year)
