His injury was way worse than reported. Basically was going to be out anyway

Sit out. Who gives a shite? Honestly? But Bama fans? I can't think of a fanbase other than Bama that cares so deeply about mythical titles?

Why would a kid risk his future over nothing but for fat slobs who sit at home and drink the Pepper and eat the Chicken. Nothing is even still sanctioned in CFB, it's still illusory. Maybe LSU fans care a bit but I've never heard the fandom defined by what some sportswriter voted them.

Why would a college athlete risk injury to placate a sportswriter to vote him into a game to placate fans over some charade. College trophies are fricking Orange slices. You have your life to live and a family to eventually provide for and your parents to payback.

Desperate lives give a shite about College trophies. CFB has turned into one purpose...create a resume for the Pros...since we don't have minor league baseball. Every kid is audtioning, you think he loves your school? Doubtful, he's going where he will get the best audition. We root for temps. CFB fans root for temps. (who don't remotely care as much as you do for the success of the favorite University you never attended.)

I love college football but there's nothing you posted that I could give a logical rebuttal.

The day will soon come when players sit out a playoff game.

It's seriously "big business", I don't know of any other occupation/field where a young man can leave college and be guaranteed millions of dollars with or without a degree except big time college football or basketball. I don't like it but this is the reality a P5 college football fan, better get use to it.

It absolutely is big business and one of the reasons I prefer the NFL over college. College football, at least P5, pretend it is an amateur sport but a lot of people are making tons of money off of these kids, who are pretty much forced into the college system by the rules. LSU, FSU, Bama, etc. won’t make up the difference to a poor kid who loses a draft position because of a bowl injury, but will gladly cash that check for the tv rights. College football and basketball are in serious need of an overhaul.

Social media?

Big business and commodification is far older than social media. Not only that, every poster complaining about Greedy's decision, especially the "passionate" (read: obsessed) fans have contributed to the expansion of college football into a money making business rather than a sporting competition.

There's the give and take, if we actually treated football like it is meant to be treated, like good entertainment, and good competition, rather than a commodity driven business, then maybe this would be different. Fans empowered the orgs - NCAA and NFL - to expand, change, and create a a different kind of business than just enjoying sports competitions.

Will LSU take care of Greedy's family in the EXACT same way he would if he goes Top 10 in the draft? Dollar for Dollar?

Yeah... if your goal is to be a professional athlete who gets paid to participate in a sport... yeah it’s best to minimize the risk of injury...

Why wait until the playoffs to shut down? Logically, a player should have already hung it up.

People are shitting on these kids sitting, but they are finishing up mediocre seasons before skipping the bowl.

These guys are competitors, and I don't think it will become common to shut down halfway through a season, and I don't think it will become commonplace to sit the playoffs. It may happen, but it will be the exception, not the rule.

Yeah ok

If I were another NFL GM, I'm glad you're retarded and thank you for allowing that player to drop.

Why play your junior year if you’re a projected first or second round pick after your sophomore year. Fromm and Tua should both rest up their junior years. Trevor Lawrence should just hang out in a gym until 2021. Why play?

Everyone always keys on the getting hurt angle of these sit-outs, but it could equally be that they want to focus on the draft and really train in those skills during bowl prep time. If you shave some 40 time unsteadiness of prepping for a bowl game that could make you a good bit more money. I don’t think as these guys worry about getting hurt as much as everyone is pinning on them.

Insurance.

For the training and two games.

Colleges can pay it for whole year.

Thread was done yesterday.
