Stats:

Rushing:

Games: 134 Att: 1286 Yards: 5490 YPC: 4.3 TDs: 36

Passing:

Games: 134 Rec: 437 Yards: 3598 YPC: 7.5 TDs: 18

Average game for Reggie:

Rushing: Att: 10 Yards: 41 YPC: 4.3 TD: 0.27
Catching: Rec: 4 Yards: 27 YPC: 7.5 TD: 0.13

He gave you about 70 yards per game and a TD every 2.5 games running and catching the football.

So how would you grade his career: A+, A, A- / B+, B, B- / C+, C, C-?

He wasn't Gayle Sayers reborn but he had a long, productive career at the most disposable position in football

B- should've been a lot better with the saints. He started to become a better running back in Miami. It took him a long time to realize he wasn't in college anymore, and you just can't dance around in the NFL.

Solid B

He had unrealistic expectations he couldn't live up to. But regardless of that he was a very good player, and a big reason the Saints won a ring. He had some really electric moments in the league.

He would be more highly thought of if he wasn't the #2 overall pick and a legendary college player. B/B-

Rushing:

5490 yards in 1286 attempts - Pro

3169 yards in 433 attempts - College

He'll probably never get his Pro due because he will always be judged by how amazing he was in college. That task was too much to live up to.

C- to C

He was a phenom talent that didn't translate and was hampered by injuries. He wasn't a bust though.

Good career. Key player in a super bowl winning team. The guy was so phenomenal in college, that what was expected of him was somewhat unrealistic.

10+ years, got a ring, made over 60M just from football. For a running back, that is a at worst an A grade..

A-

Long, productive career for a running back

Key part of some good teams, including a team that won it all

Had success on multiple teams, which proved he was not a product of any one system

OP should add his punt return stats, too, IMO.

I was at that Monday Night game against Minnesota in 2008 where he housed 2 punts and almost had 3. One of the most electric feelings I've been a part of in a live game experience.

As for the question, assuming A+ is HoF and A is elite for a decade, I'd give him an A-.

In addition to his numbers, his intangibles were great. Model teammate, key element in his team winning a championship, versatile and lasted longer than most do as a RB in the NFL. In his prime he made football more fun.

As others have said, he was doomed to never live up to unrealistic expectations from the start.

I'll close by saying I might be biased because I do love me some Reggie Bush.

would've been one of the truly great players if drafted by a coach who wasn't cancer to running backs.

It depends on what we're grading it against.

If we're talking about against the average starter's NFL career: B to B+.

If we're talking about grading it against what everybody thought the dude would be coming out of college: C
