Just get rid of any shot being worth more than 2 points if you want the 3 to die out. It's the lowest percentage shot in basketball. If it wasn't worth 3 points people wouldn't take them. No need to reinvent the wheel

Get rid of 3, shorten playoff series, shorten season, shorten games to 40 minutes like in college.

NBA playoffs taking 2 entire months is insane to me.

ETA: Wasn’t trying to be a dick. Just that yes, the idea for this is to chsnhe how offense is played, which would make defenders change their strategy, thus making the game more fun and to my point, would change what shots are deemed the easiest.
Wide arse open 3s might be easier than scoring in the paint if that shite was worth 4 points

But either way, back to OPs point, no way in hell this would lead to a more "entertaining" NBA. I can see the intrigue lasting a couple of weeks but no way that's sustainable.
