Well, there aren't too many occupations where the worst employees make ~$1,000,000 a year....

This is a weird thread considering you have a baseball picture as your avatar. You can't even celebrate a good hit too hard without having to worry about some pitcher being butthurt and throwing a fastball at you.

I would venture to say a lot of people wouldn't appreciate being called a thug in various occupations,

you just don't hear about it because they don't get press.

That seemed like the straw that broken the camel's back. Russillo mentioned on his most recent podcast that he received word from a very credible source that the locker room had tuned Beilein before training camp was over. Beilein lost his team before they even played their first game.

Maybe you have been living under a rock your whole life but you should know that "thug" has been considered a term with racist connotations toward young African-American men for a while now. It is generally used in a way to justify the mistreatment/brutalizing (or just general disapproval) of such men and African-American culture in general. If you called any black person a thug in any occupation (except rap musicians) they would probably be upset by it. The difference is NBA players generally have more freedom to express their disapproval because the NBA is a league where the players have significant power. Black athletes essentially run the league unlike the NFL where white owners like Jerry Jones can just toss players aside if he doesn't like their opinion.

I guarantee you the NFL has more of what you would consider "SJWs" than the NBA does (just because of the sheer number of players in the NFL who happen to be non-white). Difference is NFL players more often have to hide their opinions for fear of being blacklisted like Kaepernick. The opposite is true in the NBA. Players are free to speak their minds without fear of retaliation from league owners (especially star players).

I don't know what office situation OP is in where if a boss called employees a bunch of thugs, no one would get hurt.

People at every job I've worked get mad over much smaller things.

Also, none of the Cavs ever publicly ripped Beilein for the thugs comment. The story was always that he said it, then apologized for saying it privately, but no one came out publicly.
