When did football turn into figure skating?

My question to you is: When hasn't CFB been figure skating? It has been this way since the beginning of time.

Do you not realize what you are watching every week? People always laughed at me several years ago here when I rank teams by "Tiers".

The Tier 1 teams will ALWAYS play on a different playing field than everyone else, both on and off the field. That is just what CFB is.

It's not as if Bama was super impressive in all their wins. Arkansas and LSU were just as bad as FSU verse ND, Louisville, or Miami.

Again, you are referring to a Tier 1 program that got into a two-team system a few years ago while finishing THIRD in the SEC. Let that sink in. THIRD. With a schedule that only four FBS teams with a record better than 6-6 going into the bowl games.

If you didn't see that coming, that is not the fault of the committee. That is your fault.

I'm not trying to be an arse, but it is comical how many refuse to see what is right in front of them.

PS - Expect Bama to win the NC again this year despite barely beating LSU, Arky, and MSU.

Out of that entire reply, that is all you saw?

My bad. I honestly didn't watch the game. Congrats on the blow out.

I don't disagree with most of the rest of your post.

It wasn't a blowout either. If you don't know about the game, don't post about it.

All aboard the excuse train! Choo-choo!

I hate that a bowl result nowadays is a referendum on football conferences.

So, SEC west loses some games and now bowl records do not mean anything? If the Mississippi schools take care of business, all we hear about for the next year is how dominant that division was... how they should have had two teams in the playoff.. yada yada. Bowl records are the one measuring stick we have, and it has been used for years, especially by SEC fan.

Secondly, the rest of the football world hates the FSU and everyone is out to knock us off the mountain. FSU as the defending national champ on the country's longest winning streak took everyone's best shot all year, and won every game.

Third, yesterday is enough for me to know that there should not be rematchs in the playoff. The regular season was and is the part of the playoff. You had your chance to win your conference, and you didn't. I say let the conferences champs play for it all. Or else, we end up with TCU's out and Miss State's in.

It really is unbelievable. Just one of the least logical things I can remember in sports, and that has nothing to do with the results this bowl season.

The more ridiculous thing to me is that FSU is 9 point underdogs to an Oregon team that hasn't proven anything on the big stage.

In my opinion, the bowl games for Clemson, Georgia Tech, and TCU were their biggest games of the season - their Super Bowls. Or the closest they'd get to one (in TCU's case). Each of those teams felt like they had a lot to play for and a lot to prove. For their opponents (OU, MSU, OM), the bowl games were an afterthought - a formality to wrap up a disappointing season they all expected would have a different outcome.

Just my $0.02.

You take too much stock in meaningless Bowl games.

No its not. Thats just what fits your agenda. The only team with a legitimate case for not getting up for a bowl game would be TCU who felt robbed out of an actual meaningful game. And Georgia Tech? Lol, they just had a legitimate shot at winning the ACC and ending FSU's win streak. That was their super bowl.

I'm not claiming those teams weren't up for the game. But you are using some major bro-logic.

Frickin this. If the sec wins these games it is all we hear about for the next year.
Never forget!!!!

We all know SEC fans will twist the narrative to fit their agenda. When is the last time the Mississippi schools played in a big bowl game? Of course they both wanted to win...and both schools got stomped by much better teams

Clemson beat a HORRIBLE Oklahoma team. How does that make FSU look good?

Terrible thread all around.

No kidding, I know a lot of folks from Mississippi. They don't have noticeably good seasons, either of them, all that often. To say that neither team cared a lot about putting a stamp on a season a lot better than they usually have is BS. If either had won their bowl game in the same fashion they lost it either would be calling their season one of their 10 best ever. No way the teams didn't care a lot about that, unless they are brain dead. The problem was they may have believed the hype and got bushwhacked.
