I cut the cord on my tv about 6 months ago. I listen to games on my phone via TuneIn and SXM. I get more done in and around the house while I listen.

About as many on this board that "don't watch ESPN".

I have maybe watched five Auburn games in the past three years. The portal has turned me off completely. I used to be an every Saturday viewer. College game day, early game, Auburn game, YouTube highlights of the games the morning after. No more.

And I’m not protesting it. The product is just shite. A whole new roster of players each season just takes the fun out of it in my opinion.

But that’s me, I have a couple buddies who are still all into it. Which is fine.

You guys don’t see how funny it is that fanbases on this board who are now losing more games suddenly give every excuse under the sun to not watch as much except the actual truth. The truth is you guys watch less because your team is losing more games. You are just like the fanbases you’ve been mocking and making fun of for years and calling bad fans because only 40,000 showed up.

Welcome to the world of more losses equal more fan apathy. If LSU, UGA, and Bama were all 11-1 last year none of you would be making these posts. And the minute you go 7-0 and are ranked in the top 2 all of you will suddenly regain your fandom.

College football and March Madness is all I have left for watching sports. I go all day for college football, unless the fishing is hot and that comes first that time of year.

False and false. At least when it comes to me. I've lost interest, and my school isnt bottom of the barrel type.

I follow games on my phone but I rarely watch, but that was before NIL. I have too many other things to do than to spend 13 hours watching six hours of commercials and some game action. Cannot tell you the last time I have watched a CFB game in its entirety, unless I was in attendance. Often, I’ll come here to find out what’s going on (beyond just the scores).

I watch after golfing. Sometimes I’ll play a bonus 9, if it’s not crowded.

I don’t plan my day around kickoff.
I don’t go to games anymore.

If it is raining or nighttime, I will usually get to see the whole game.

I do not pay extra to find the games on TV.

Basically, if it’s on when I get back from the course, I’ll watch it.

I and a lot of others here used to watch every game we could all day Saturday. Haven’t done that in years. So that ruins your “Hurr durr yall just mad your teams suck!” point.

This argument you’ve made a million times sucks. Dozens of people have poked holes in it yet here you are still screeching about it.

Bronson,
So you’re telling me that if Auburn signed ten 5 stars and won back to back Natties in 2025 and 2026 that you would still only watch a few games a season? Come on man. No one buys that. Human behavior is fairly simple. People want to feel good. When they don’t they avoid those situations.

My team use to be a powerhouse program who hosted away games in their stadium for the opposing team. GT was a national draw. Why? Because we won. When we stopped winning our fanbase fell off the map because losing sucks and it’s painful. When Bama was winning big they beat their chest and posted photos of their spring game and mocked other fanbases who didn’t show up for a freaking spring game. Now that the wins aren’t there you see their fanbase stay away. It’s not NIL or the portal. It’s wins and losses.

Still in. Not quite ready to give up.

I just won't watch as much.

I’ve already made the point earlier in the thread that it’s partly due to my own changing interests.

It’s good to hear that you’re not retarded about this since you’re retarded about almost everything else.

I used to be a diehard CFB fan growing up. I loved playing EA Sports's NCAA Football throughout the year. In the summertime, I'd grab Phil Steele and Lindy's magazines to keep me abreast and occupied. I couldn't wait to watch Gameday, in its entirety, and then I'd watch games all day...beginning at the 11:00 AM ACC/Jefferson Pilot games till the Pac 10 after dark and MWC Conference games. I'd also follow recruiting closely and loved watching signing day and/or attending the Bayou Bash.

Now, I don't play the video game, I don't get the magazines, I never watch Gameday, and I watch 1 full game a Saturday (typically LSU unless they're playing a nobody, then, I typically catch some of the premier game of the week depending on its kickoff time). I also haven't followed recruiting in probably 10+ years.

So, sure, the sport may be growing. It's just growing without me.

ETA: I also haven't been inside Tiger Stadium (or any other college football game for that matter) since 2019. I also missed a substantial portion of this year's conference championships and Playoffs. I can tell you for certain that I did not watch Notre Dame vs. Indiana, Arizona State vs. Texas, Oregon vs. Ohio State, and Ohio State vs. Texas (that game was largely due to a forced occasion/dinner that I couldn't miss...I actually wanted to watch that particular game).

I'll probably never stop watching completely but I'm pretty much only watching LSU games and the occasional big SEC matchup nowadays
