How long can we validate the behavior at the Mayweather-McGregor press conference?

ESPN just can't help themselves

But while we all knew publicity for the matchup would feature over-the-top displays of posturing, self-aggrandizing and hyper-masculine aggression, I don't think we were prepared for how precipitously the trash talk would devolve into slurs and stereotypes.
Over the course of four pressers in four cities this week, Mayweather and McGregor went from exchanging the standard prefight idiocy to back-and-forth homophobic, misogynistic and racial epithets. McGregor, who has trafficked in ethnic stereotyping in the past, on Tuesday described "Rocky III" as the movie with the "dancing monkeys in the gym" and told Mayweather "dance for me, boy." His sarcastic response to accusations of racism only made things worse.
quote:
Mayweather responded to McGregor's taunts by accusing him of disrespecting black women, a very pot-calling-the-kettle-black claim considering his very public history of violence against women. And on Friday, just days after chastising McGregor for his mouth, (and just a few years after his own foray into racial stereotyping), Mayweather called the Irish fighter a "ho," a "b----" and a "f----t."
quote:
While many of us watched from afar, disgusted, the fans in the arenas cheered. And I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to see such filth pass for entertainment. As a society we've embraced a gradual loss of civility and decency. Outrageous, clownish behavior used to be reserved for tiny pockets of the entertainment world; we pointed and laughed at the foolish folks we saw on "The Jerry Springer Show," looking down our noses at their boorish behavior. Now unsavory reality show characters like Danielle Bregoli, better known as the "cash me outside" girl from "Dr. Phil," don't disappear when an episode's reruns do. Instead they go viral and get celebrated. Earlier this year, Bregoli was reportedly charging thousands of dollars to make appearances, cashing in on her classless persona.

Lol at people trying to project Jim Crow type 1960s racism onto an unaware Irishman.

I am so sick of progressives and liberals. Nobody on earth is looking to McGregor and Mayweather for moral inspiration. Let fighters stay stupid shite. Who cares?

How did I know it was a woman before I even clicked the link?
They are going to be fist fighting. It's just trash talk. This ho needs to go to CNN or something.

Trash talk is meant to be trash. Hence the name.
But no lets force people to be nice and cordial to each other before they try to knock each other unconscious. Great idea.

This whole spectacle is a glorified WWE match

There's a time and place for this behavior. And there's times when it's inappropriate. I can't think of a more appropriate time for it than a boxing match press conference

everyone knows that i want to feel good, morally, about watching two dudes spend roughly an hour fighting and punching one another in the head for money

Are there going to be more of these "press conferences"? Pretty soon they're going to be swinging their dicks at each other.

You think he's calling him boy because he knows that racist rednecks in Montgomery, AL would say that 60 years ago? Don't be silly.
Posted on 7/15/17 at 2:17 pm to Weagle25
At the second to last press conference McGregor said he can't be racist because he's black from the waist down

Happened to hear Sarah Spain in the radio talking about this last night. Bitch is just looking for excuses to be offended.
If she's wondering why she gets a lot of hate as a woman in sports media, it's shite like that.

Can't wait for all the hypocrites of the Left to come to Floyd's defense over McGregor's comments for the sake of reinforcing political correctness and identity politics. People forget that Floyd is such a huge activist for equal rights so much so that he doesn't discriminate who he punches, man or woman.

I love it, hopefully they can bring it to another level, and offend even more people. Time to step up your game, boys.
