Why would you want Herbert to air it out more downfield when he shows inconsistent accuracy on downfield passes as is? It seems just the opposite to me & the offense was constructed to play Herbert's strength with more accurate short to intermittent passes while limiting the deep throws which he is inconsistent with.

I'm a bigger Herbert fan than most.
Right off, he has all the physical tools. He's a solid kid, so he isn't a question off the field.
He had a 67% completion percentage with 32 TD's and 5 picks this year. He measurably outperformed Eason in the same conference this year.
He isn't a sure thing, but QB is the riskiest position. I see him similarly to Josh Allen with a better completion %.
