Im gonna be at a new years/bday party.

So Im not gonna watch them. I think thats whats gonna happen for a ton of people. Going to parties/bars/events and it might be on tv in the background, but I dont think people will really pay as much attention.

It's really one of the dumbest decisions in recent history.

I don't mind it. Hopefully the games will be on at the party I am attending though. If not, then I'll have a completely different opinion on it.

Cool stadium but the rose bowl game is absolute shite to me and many many others in Texas and the greater south.

Since the BCS and now playoff I am only interested in watching the best teams face off.

Don't care about second place Stanford and Iowa.

Agreed. It is a huge mistake. The whole point of the scheduling of the playoff and previously the BCS title games was to maximize viewers. The casual fan or even non-fan would be much more likely to watch if the game was on a week night or a Sunday night. No casual fan or non-fan is going to go out of their way to watch the CFP on one of the biggest social nights of the year. The people with a vested interest in the game probably don't mind at all, but the people with vested interests in the game are not what drives TV ratings. It seems like a highly idiotic decision to play these games on NYE. And having one of the kickoffs at fricking 3:00? Seriously? A lot of people still have to work NYE. Personally, I'll be working till 5, then going to a concert, followed by a nice dinner to ring in the new year.

The games this year really don't interest me like they did last year so I'm not upset at missing Bama throttle MSU in the late game.

it's fair to ask why the NBA plays that night as well...

are you comparing an NBA regular season game to a college football playoff game?

Its laughable that actual championship games have to cater to a bowl game that will have zero championship implications. The Rose Bowl isn't The Masters. It hasn't been the "Grandaddy of them all" in a long time.

ESPN at least recognized the issue because they didn't attempt to move the games to 1/2 for their health. They know the ratings would be higher. Its just a very strange move for the Playoff Commissioners to leave a lot of money on the table.

I like it. I'd rather watch these football games than go to some lame NYE party. (Or even a good party)

I'm fine with it, it just means we're watching the playoff games on NYE.

ABC/ESPN last minute push for viewers is slightly heavy handed.
