Yes, I'm sure all those recruits were blown away with Reggie's '96 Chevy Impala.

Facts be damned! Carroll gave Bush a mansion and a Range Rover and private jet and even did his homework for him! Scum, filth, slime, muck! CHEATERS!

Please explain how USC benefitted from this? Reggie and his parents took money, how does that improve SC on the field? Yes he cheated and SC should have stopped it but to say they benefitted is laughable

Even ignoring all the possible implications and stuff that cannot be proven, here is how USC benefitted: They got to use an ineligible player, who was really good.

Reggie Bush was just as ineligible as any NFL player would have been. Saying that using him was no benefit to USC would be like saying Texas would not have benifited if Shaun Alexander had managed to suit up for the Longhorns in 2005.

Hmmmm, So you guys are saying that USC has nothing to do with the situation and are innocent of playing Dirty? Do you remember JM? Its funny that JM lived with JT Curtis in 05. His mom couldn't afford him or couldn't afford to move back after Katrina cant remember the reason. When Asked about the possible sanctions that might be brought against USC, He replied that Coach Carrol and Reggie called me and assured me everything is cool. 2 days latter, he changed his story. He also had a Range Rover at USC. Storys are that it is his babbys mammas but it was a gift to her from a booster.

Correct, except the benefactor was a WASHINGTON booster. McKnight acted like a dumbass and didn't play in what should have been his final game at USC.

In that instance we did the right thing, but it was too little too late under Mike Garrett. He was subsequently fired, and McKnight was indefinitely suspended.

Other way around. USC was severely overpunished for no reason except a ridiculously trumped up charge of LOIC.

And this is not over yet. Mark my words on that.

I know it's not over, but I'll be surprised (pleasantly) if the appeal is upheld.

Beyond the appeal I understand there's a potential suit against the NCAA (violation of California law) but I am uncertain about the feasability of such an action.

Please expound counselor. Nevermind, the witless is speculating.
USC was found guilty of major infractions, both of their major sports programs are on probation, and the football team specifically is on a three-year probation. I'm not speculating. USC was found guilty.

And like I said, I'd probably be in denial too if it were my team. I'm not casting judgment.

When the McNair suit is filed is when the shite hits the fan.

My apologies if I am mistaken, but it appeared you were speculating about our collective denial. I have an irrational emotional attachment to USC football, but I am not in denial about the state of the program. I have a firm grip on where USC football is. We are not the dominant team that SC fans are used to seeing, and Kiffin and co. are just managing to win games against teams we should Oregon.

So while the current team is not "elite", the program as a whole definitely is. We will be back on top before too long. If Trojan Ace is right, it may be sooner rather than later.

Everybody seems to forget about Dwayne Jarrett and his little rent problem. Trust me, with Pete Carroll bolting like he did there is no question more and more will be uncovered in the coming years as reporters try to make a name for themselves by exposing how dirty it really was....

My reading of events is the AT THE VERY LEAST, the USC community is guilty of allowing a situation to exist which greatly increased the likelyhodd of these things happening. THe access granted to (reported) agents vis-a-vis sideline passes and time in the lockeroom should have been reasonably expected to increase the likelyhood of these events. By allowing this access, USC is complicitous, IMHO.

The most agregious reading of events is that the University knowigly set up the situation and looked the other way (no proof though).

Leinart's Dad paid Matt's rent and that's not a problem. DJ was Matt's room mate and that was the problem. DJ repaid the rent money, and it went away.

So are you saying Reggie was the culprit, and deserves to have his association with USC stricken, and all the backlash?

Seems to me that the same AD that allowed OJ Mayo to get paid, just might have been a little shady everywhere else.

The old AD, Mike Garrett, has been fired. Reggie "deserves"? Hard to say. I don't hold any ill will against him.

I hope someday after the NCAA mess has been settled, that Reggie might repair his relationship with the school. He wants to go back and finish his degree there.

Some of us are really bitter to the point of vindictivity regarding Reggie. I am not.

I do believe that USC is doing exactly what the NCAA expects them to do, and that's as it should be. Pat Haden (the new AD) has said "Winning is not winning if you don't do it the right way."

He is right.

Exactly. Reggie is not getting a raw deal from SC, its part of the sanctions to distance themselves from him.

I have no bitterness towards him. Those were great times to be a fan and he just screwed up and got caught. Hes not the first athlete nor will be the last to take money.
