Do they know that he was basically the scapegoat of a program ripe with cheating, payments, etc? Or do they think he's the reason USC was on probation?

WTF? It's one guy and his family that received benefits from an agent. Not from USC boosters, not to benefit USC or the football program in any way. Nonetheless, it was deemed sufficient to make him ineligible.

Reggie is a bit part player though. If there was a compliance department back then and an AD at USC that could think past the here and now, USC would be much better off.

As it is, I don't hate Reggie at all, still cheer for him when he plays for the Saints and wish him and all other Trojans well.

He screwed up by not ratting on his family, and by letting his palms get greased a little I'm sure.

Without Reggie though, we don't get Pat Haden, or a change in USC's culture from ignorance to vigilance. It was needed, and it happened.

Damned shame for the kids currently in the program. They did nothing wrong. But it is only 2 seasons.

FIGHT ON!

USC is as slimey as they come. Which is all relative since this goes on everywhere.

But to say that it was one guy and that USC didn't know about it and it didn't benefit USC in any way you need to take a step back and look at what is actually happening.

Please explain how USC benefitted from this? Reggie and his parents took money, how does that improve SC on the field? Yes he cheated and SC should have stopped it but to say they benefitted is laughable

Nah, it's more fun just to make shite up! Pete Carroll paid Reggie to come to SC, and Reggie is the martyr, selflessly taking the heat for all the cheating SC is RIPE with.

Right, it was just a gift with no mutual benefit. To repay Reggie for staying at the pro factory with a perennial national title shot.

Instead of just talking nonsense why dont you present proof that he was paid to go to USC? The marketers were giving him money for him to sign with them when he went pro. If you actually read up on this you would learn that. But maybe asking you guys to read is just asking for too much

So yes, they are in denial.

The fact that everyone knew that if you went to USC, you were getting paid one way or another. If this happened at Ohio State under Jim Tressel with Clarett, then it is happening everywhere.

USC let this go on whether you want to admit this or not. They may not have known exactly what was happening, maybe they did. Either way, it was their job to make sure their student athletes didn't accept benefits. They neglected that.

You are correct, I am not arguing that. You are claiming SC benefitted so I am asking you or anyone else to show proof that Carroll was paying players to go there. Anyone can accuse a person how bout showing what you have found?

I'm saying that I would like to think Tressel is pretty clean as far as all things go. And it still happened here.

So give someone as "charismatic" as Pete Carroll a chance, who knows all what went on.

It took this long to get to where we are, and we don't even really know anything. Think about all those less profile, but 5 star athletes that come to USC. You don't think they see Reggie Bush driving an expensive car when they come for a visit? Don't see the clothes, toys etc. That is where they gain the benefit. It's understood that if you come here(anywhere), you'll get paid.
