They sold out Clemson stadium. About 83,000 people. I don’t get it but good for them.

Pretty sure they did a couple dates at the Carolina Panthers home stadium to big crowds

ETA: the 2 upcoming August dates in Alex Box sold out in just a few hours... and the Bananas won't even be there

It's the Party Animals & Texas Tailgaters

It is horrible. At least the Harlem Globetrotters had a history of playing real basketball.

I hope the Savanah Bananas go out of business in a few years. Parents who take their kids to see them are what is wrong with this country.

It's pretty obvious this is meant for kids. Lol @ anyone getting upset about it. The kids love it.

I blame the parents.

In the near future I think you'll see a lot of minor league teams that are struggling switching over to this format

Minor league teams can’t just decide on their own to start calling a batter out when a fan catches a foul on the fly. I can only imagine someone telling Kade Anderson that once he hits Double A, he will need to learn dance moves.

Any reasonable person realizes that's not what I'm saying. I know an AA ball club coach or ownership isn't coming into the dugout one day saying "alright guys were playing banana ball now. Here's your hot pink uniforms!"

I'm saying that if this continues to be massively profitable, there's a litany of minor league teams out there struggling financially. Lots of them are losing money. Up to this point there wasn't really another option for these ownership groups and ballpark owners, and IF this concept proves to be sustainable they'd be hard pressed to not consider dropping their AA affiliation in favor of it - especially when they can take this highly profitable option without any change in expenses or huge spending on their current ballparks.

It's cute you think these minor league teams exist for the benefit of the players though These owners don't give a shite about being a pipeline for players to the MLB, they are for-profit businesses. And a lot of those businesses are struggling to make enough of a profit to keep the lights on another year, many of them even losing money

It’s the Harlem globetrotters of baseball if you don’t get it then we can help you. You either like that stuff or you don’t. I like it. I particularly like the funny rules. My favorite is how if a fan catches your foul ball you’re out.

This is trending towards the South Park episode where they invent sarcastiball.

Can this type of entertainment work where teams have singular markets and play 50-ish games at home? I would doubt it. Then again, wrestling is still going strong.

Is this the type of “sport” where kids grow into adults and still enjoy it? I can’t imagine many adult males would go to these games on the reg unless they have kids. The skits are the same, are they not? It’s like watching the same movie on repeat.

The more teams that are added saturates the market. They aren’t going to sell out 80,000 seat football stadiums because the demand won’t be there.

I try not to hate on Banana Ball. I can appreciate entertainment for kids and whatnot. It’s just…the dancing seems pretty gay.

Well so is wrestling and it’s wildly popular. The kids love it and that is all that matters.

I bailed quickly after this:

They had a child, maybe 3? dressed as a banana, at the pitchers mound, and a guy held him up, ala the lion king, and all the players were bowing to him as if he was the Banana King.

It was weird, and cringe, and that was it for me.

The owner is the definition of hyper cringe. He’s done a good job building this brand but Jesus his instagram videos are the worst. I sometimes hate watch them but he is such a try hard.

No. The Globetrotters were masters of their craft. Bananas are minor league flunkies doing silly shite.

Then don't watch it. It's entertainment. I believe the tickets are 'fairly' cheap and they do things that gets fans involved.

So does a Donkey show in Tijuana, but that doesn't mean it's OK. People get real weird when you start talking shite about their baseball with tik tok dances.

What about the actual skills of anyone on the Bananas?

Did they play college or summer league?
