It was a damn good game and they pulled the best possible team they could get. People argued that BYU should have been in the NY6. What do you want?

UGA vs A&M was the final year of the contract with the SEC. 3 years later it was Ohio vs ULM

The Independence Bowl has always been low tier. I'm not sure why this board thinks otherwise. Since it started in 1976 there have been just 7 ranked teams to play in the game.

LSU was 8-3 and Notre Dame was 7-5 when they played. LSU going there while ranked #15 was a massive anomaly.

Michigan State and LSU were both 6-4-1 when they played.

This year's BYU team was the highest ranked team to ever play in the Indy.

Lost tie-ins to SEC. It was at its best when Big Ten teams played SEC teams.

Some of that is wrong. These are the years those coaches made the Indy along w/their team records.

Nick Saban
1995 - Michigan State - 6-4-1
2006 - Alabama - 6-6

Bob Stoops
1999 - Oklahoma - 7-4

Jimmy Johnson
1981 - Oklahoma State - 7-4

Danny Ford
1985 - Clemson - 6-5

Mack Brown
1987 - Tulane - 6-5

Steve Spurrier
2005 - South Carolina - 7-4
2014 - South Carolina - 6-6

Don James
1987 - Washington - 6-4-1

The Big 10 has sent just 4 teams to the Indy and only one of those games featured an SEC team w/the '95 IB between 6-4-1 LSU and 6-4-1 Michigan State.

Honestly with all the changes to CFB why not change bowl requirements? If the Indy bowl could bring back the b12 SEC ties, you could get Texas vs Auburn or something like that. Those fan bases would fill up more seats than what we’re seeing now.

I get it, we have a charity case for G5 programs and have to give them every hand out they can get but come on. Scrap the records and just stick teams in there that you know how a regional following and will at least somewhat pack the stadium.

There’s probably a ton of SEC & Big12 fans displaced in the ARKLATEX area that would love to get a chance to see their team play in this bowl. End the charity for the G5s. It’s only acceptable to have a G5 in this bowl if it’s a team that is from LA or a bordering state.

It would have been empty as hell regardless of who played today. The weather was awful.

Nah it used to be way more full when P5 programs were there. It was a blizzard and the stands had a lot more people.

I was there along with 45,627 others. Actually had a pretty good time in Shreveport and enjoyed the stadium.
