Rockets officials, though, remain steadfast in their belief that, even if the Bulls decline to match on Asik, that they'll be able to absorb at least three of the four aforementioned Magic role players: Richardson, Davis, Duhon and Turkoglu. Sources say that the Rockets would have to send Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris and Chandler Parsons to the Magic from their current roster to make the salary-cap math work, as well the draft rights to Jeremy Lamb, Royce White and Terrence Jones, all selected in last month's first round.

The Rockets, in addition, would also have to waive a handful of players with non-guaranteed contracts (Shaun Livingston, Courtney Fortson, Josh Harrellson, Jerome Jordan, Jon Leuer, Diamon Simpson and Greg Smith) to clear sufficient cap space. But Houston, sources say, is also offering multiple first-round picks to the Magic, including a potential lottery pick acquired this week from Toronto in the Kyle Lowry deal. Future picks are known to hold great appeal to new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan and no team in the recent running for Howard -- Brooklyn and the Los Angeles Lakers are the other two top suitors -- has a first-rounder of that caliber to send to Orlando. LINK
W.T.F!??!?!

To get Howard, who doesn't want to be there:

Amnesty Luis Scola

Give up multiple years of first round picks

Take on 3 contracts of:
Richardson
Davis
Duhon
Turkoglu

Trade:
Kevin Martin
Patrick Patterson
Marcus Morris
Chandler Parsons
Jeremy Lamb
Royce White
Terrence Jones

Will be forced to cut:
Shaun Livingston
Courtney Fortson
Josh Harrellson
Jerome Jordan
Jon Leuer
Diamon Simpson
Greg Smith

So the team will basically be the same roster Howard is running from in Orlando.

The Rockets could be the Bobcats in 2 years...with no first round picks to rebuild with.

I don't know.

But if Orlando isn't calling Houston over and over to take that deal, they're MORONS!

I'm praying this happens. Trying not to get too excited because I know it won't.....

Giving up the entire farm for a one year rental in Dwight

Something has to be up, Morey (sp?) is smarter than that. He has always gotten good play out of supporting/role players, but that elite superstar has always evaded him....maybe this is his chance? Read somewhere that even if the Rockets take on 3 of those shitty contracts, they will still have enough space to sign another max player alongside Dwight in 2013 (ie: CP3). Maybe he has something up his sleeve.....

He's a very smart man.

But he's had 5 years to prove he's anything more than a mediocre GM and hasn't done it.

No way do the Magic want all those forwards.

Rockets would have enough for 1 max player as long as they take on only 2 of the Magic's terrible contracts(Turk, Davis, Richardson).

I mean, what will the Rockets have left?

3 bad contracts, a really disgruntled 1 year from Howard, and ????

I would trade every single hornets player and the next 3 first round picks with the exception of rivers, Gordon, Davis and Anderson for Howard and all their shitty contracts. We can win a championship this year and Howard would love to re-sign

Admit I don't follow the Rockets, but I've never heard of any of those guys they are willing to give up.

He also had his 2 star players get hurt and then a huge trade get nixed by the commish for "basketball reasons". This is the first year he has really been able/allowed to change the roster around so much.

So basically you would trade Aminu, Jason Smith and Vasquez for Howard

So, if somehow this trade goes through, Houston's roster will be:
PG
Chris Duhon?
Toney Douglas

SG
Jason Richardson

SF
Hedo Turkoglu?
Gary Forbes

PF
Glen Davis
Donatas Motiejunas
Furkan Aldemir

Center
Dwight Howard
Omer Asik*
*if the Bulls don't match

And the rest of the roster filled with guys at the minimum?
