Etienne has promise, but the returning production is laughable
James Robinson was 9th in the league in scrimmage yards despite being a rookie and missing two games...
Etienne probably doesn't even lead the team in yards this year

O'Brien really nailed it trading Deandre Hopkins for David Johnson and the 40th overall pick he turned into Ross Blacklock. Especially since Blacklock had more ejections than sacks.
O'Brien was not only one of the worst coaches in the league, he had to be hands down the worst GM.

I’m guessing you haven’t been watching the league much? James Robinson hit 1,000 yards last year as a rookie.

Is 28th in rushing good production to return? Obviously I don't think so.

at least the Texans own their 2022 first rd pick when they’re selecting in the top 2....
Finally we get out from under the Tunsil trade

I’m no stats wizard but being dead last in attempts might be part of that. And trailing in all your games might have something to do with being dead last in attempts

I'm all in on RB being the least important position in the NFL. Who gives a shite if you average 3.5 vs 4.0 ypc.
It is not the least important position in the NFL but definitely one that teams seem to sink salary cap into like the Cowboys did with Zeke.

It’s a backfield full of meh

Things like this lead me to believe they're also garbage yards in non competitive games. Doesn't bode well for good returning production.

Who gives a shite what you believe at this point. James Robinson was a top 10 back as a rookie.

That's my point. Outside of Derrick Henry, on most teams there's really not much difference between the starting RB and a practice team RB.

quote:so your argument is that a team that is returning arguably a top ten back, and also added a more mobile qb and top tier rb in the draft is going to be the worst rushing team in the nfl?
Doesn't bode well for good returning production.

In nearly all cases spending a 1st rd pick on a RB is a waste of a draft pick. As a NFL GM I would pick a RB 2 of out every three years either in the 2nd or 3rd round and keep the RB stable in their rookie contracts.

don't get the hate. Rex and Lyndsay are both decent ball carriers, and Johnson/Ingram have both been the "man" before.
Grabbing 100 replacement level RBs on the sunset of their careers at Vet salaries is a weird strategy for a team with no hope of competing next season

You can’t think of any other reasons why a 1-15 team wouldn’t have a lot of rushing yards?

In garbage time, the losing team tends to pass and the winning team tends to run

Texans are in full-tank mode

Yeah that’s what I said
all the more reason to take fliers on rookies and cheap young players
It’s not like having a runningback is gonna have a huge impact on your win loss record, either way might as well squirrel away the cap space to roll over into other years and hope you hit on a building block in the process
