The #Texans are exploring the idea of Josh McCown as head coach but would surround him with at least one former head coach on the staff. Again, not as crazy as it might seem to go from player to head coach. And if anybody can do it, McCown can.
McCown is currently a backup QB for the Texans.
Texans have confirmed they're talking to McCown:

The Houston Texans have continued discussions about the vacant Head Coach position with Jim Caldwell and Josh McCown.

Idk anything about McCown or how he'd do as a coach but it's Houston so I'm going to assume it's not a smart decision.

When you hire a team chaplain to run your football team, don’t be shocked when he hires a spokesmen for anti-jerk off groups

Yep, seems like something the Texans would do.

He’s actually under contract as a player for next season with the Texans so he would technically be the first player-coach in a way

Lol. Watson def gone now. Or sitting out till he’s gone.
He will be traded by draft day.

The new CBA pretty much made this an obsolete concept.
I think you can only sit out like 3 practices as a holdout before your contract tolls to the next season
Texans could very easily tell Watson to deal with it

I read Josh McDaniels at first.

Watson had to basically hold them at gun point to interview Bienemy but McCown is a finalist.

If McCown gets a HC job before Bienamy, Ryan Clark’s head will explode

Watson just turned up to 20.

And people wonder why Watson wants out

I’m guessing McDaniels already turned that job down if this is where they are at

"Our QB's mad, let's make his backup his boss" You can interview him if you want but if you're not gonna hire him you gotta keep this to yourself.

Maybe Watson and McCown have a good relationship and this is one way to make him happy.

Yeah, I'm going in the opposite direction of most in this thread and I'm wondering if this is a courtesy to Watson.

That’s still a huge leap. I believe one reason Kellen Moore went straight into coaching was because he and Dak had a good relationship.
Kellen Moore went from backup QB to QB coach, but a jump straight from player to head coach skips a bunch of steps on the coaching ladder.
