Georgia is better than Notre Dame and OU
How do you know that? Not saying you're wrong, but I feel like you can't just assume.
Objectively, UGA isn't better than Alabama.
Objectively, we don't know if OU, Notre Dame, or Clemson are better, and they have the resume to be in the playoff to determine a champion.

Gotta love ESPN and their SEC bias
This has absolutely nothing to do with SEC bias.
This is an ESPN employee being a good soldier and trying to drum up hype for a reveal show that has zero suspense unless they drum up a conflict.

I gotta be consistent, it would be ridiculous to put Georgia in and make Bama play Georgia again in the playoffs. I didn’t like it when it was done to LSU in 1/2012.
These teams played today and once again Georgia didn’t play a 60 minute game. I think OU sucks as a playoff team selection, but they won their sorry conferences championship.

If the playoff is objectively attempting to determine who the best team is, then UGA cannot be in, as they have already proven they are not better than Alabama, who will be the #1 seed.
Picking the Top 4 should be about picking the Top 4. It should have nothing to do with who's already played who.
I also don't see why UGA deserves to be punished for having to play Bama (and nearly winning) while OU gets to play 4-loss Texas. If UGA and OU switched opponents, the outcomes (Bama win, Texas loss) would be the same. Arguably I think UGA would look better in both.
If you're looking at 11-1 UGA, OU, and OSU...UGA has the best resume on the hardest strength of schedule.
If the playoff is about picking the best 4, it's
1. Bama
2. Clemson
3. Notre Dame
4. UGA

So dumb. They don’t belong in over any conference champ.
You PAC 12 bro?
So dumb.

Notre Dame would kick OU’s arse with that trash defense.
Since when did having an unbalanced team become a virtue?

The playoff as it is now is a complete joke. This is why they should have used the bcs rankings to pick the four teams.

Yes, Georgia is clearly better. I mean, yeah, they lost 2 of the 13 games they played (1 game where they got pantsed by a decent LSU team), but facts are facts and my eyes tell me they are better.
I have a solution. They should not keep score in any games. And they should not keep track of wins and losses. Instead, the committee can just watch the teams play or practice, and based on the eye test, pick their 4 favorites.
No team should actually have to earn their way into the final 4 on the field, you know, by winning all of their games. Or winning all of their games except 1.
I do get a laugh reading a lot of these posts though.

We don't deserve to go. In fact, I'm honestly surprised this is even a discussion.
Are we a top 4 team? Almost certainly. But that wouldn't be fair to a team like OU who beat every team they played.

This is the 5th year of the playoff and only 10 different teams will have made it.
Alabama
Oregon
Florida State
Ohio State
Clemson
Oklahoma
Michigan State
Washington
Georgia
Notre Dame
ETA: And six of those schools are one-time participants. Out of 20 possible playoff spots, 14 have been taken by four schools.

People, like Herbstreit, get caught up in the “best” criteria, but it’s never been that. It’s always been most deserving.

Likely. but Vegas is in the business of making money, not crowning champions.
Just move to an 8 team playoff:
-All conf champs from the P5 are in
-You can put teams like UCF or your "eye test" teams in with the remaining 3 spots.

And, obviously, the way conference champions are selected would change. I don't think championship games would go away because they are money makers, but I think some conferences would adopt some version of the Big 12 model; where you get your two best teams in the game.
That wouldn't have been too much of a help this year, because you'd still have teams like Syracuse and Washington having a chance to make the playoff.

or just eliminate conference title games and just play the first round of an 8 team playoff (top 8 in CFP ranking) on this weekend instead.

ND needs to be out at #5. They almost lost to Vandy. fricking VANDY. Almost lost to the same Pitt team Clemson is destroying. Struggled won against Northwestern and USC. Oh plus is only team not playing today.

Nothing wrong with the ND schedule until the other contenders play for their conference championship game while ND gets a bye.
They should at least drop to #4.

Oklahoma would wreck Clemson's dogshit secondary if Kyler could move around and avoid their elite pass rush.
