Disagree that it’s not fun. It was always fun to get up for those small handful of games in HS where you were facing a kid that threw really hard or was considered a legitimate college prospect. That’s the fun of competing. Getting hit by one? Definitely not fun
No doubt. During my playing years I faced a few of these guys, and once you timed them it wasn't that hard to hit a 90-92 MPH fastball. The hard part is when they'd throw an off speed pitch especially a change. In JUCO I was batting against a dude throwing 93 or so. I had a good at bat fouled a few off, had seen about 7 pitches all of which were fastballs. It gets to 2-2, and he throws me a Bugs Bunny changeuo. His release looked just like his FB release, so I start to swing and by the time Od finished my swing it seemed the ball was just getting to the plate. I, of course, struck out, and as I headed to the dugout tipped my cap to the pitcher. He smiled and laughed. Crap was unfair.

I've hit 97. Josh Rainwater. DeRidder 2003.
Let me rephrase. He hit me. I blacked out.

Yes. As a batter you learn how to anticipate well.

When I was an AT, we were bullshitting around with some baseball players after a game and Sean Green (UofL/Mariners) pitched a few to us. The off speed stuff, the movement up close, is insane.
I fouled off one fastball (right at 90). That’s my shining achievement.

90 out of a hand was always a lot easier for me to manage than 90 off a machine. If you load up and start your swing a little earlier than you would for a guy throwing 82, 90 is pretty manageable for the human eye that’s played baseball his whole life. There’s less margin for error, but it’s still just timing. The harder a guy throws the more difficult it is to deal with his off speed stuff, because you aren’t going to hit the fastball unless you’re looking for it. If a guy was throwing that hard there wasn’t a chance I was touching his slider

Honestly it's not that hard to hit a 90mph fastball if you're used to them. Its actually pretty easy. Breaking balls and off speed pitches combined with that 90+ heater are what's hard. And the reason I couldn't get out of AA ball.

96 Flat and over the top is 10x easier than 92 from 3/4 with movement. Especially Left on left or right on right

Just load earlier. The methods for increasing bat speed are plain as day now. The offspeed stuff is more harder to hit.

its easier to hit a 90 mph fastball when it's coming from a human (with a wind up) than out of a pitching machine.

There is a documentary called Fastball. It's a must see for baseball fans. Breaks down the science and the history. They also have another called Knuckleball that is equally interesting.

Played baseball a long time. Faced multiple D1 pitchers (four off the top of my head), most of which threw high 80s and low 90s (topped out at 94). Hitting a baseball consistently is one of the most difficult things in all of sports. Anyone can do it once, but being able to bat .300 facing the type of pitching you see in college or the pros is something not many athletes can do.
