A 1 seed ranked in the top 5 all year, one year removed from also being a 1 seed?

UVA is a regular season juggernaut, and this team is top 5 efficient on both O and D.

They have only lost three games because they’re really really good.

They are not the most athletic team, but they have real talent.

They’re also the best team in the nation at putting you to sleep

The rest of the field is fricked if Virginia is winning like this. Because when they turn it on, Purdue or somebody is in trouble.

It’s hard to win in March. That’s all there is to say about that. UF was getting bounced pretty early between 2002-2006. I don’t know what their is to “redeem” and the naegative labels are just horseshite.

They have a long way to redeem themselves--as a program. This is a program that had Ralph Sampson win national player of the year 3 times, and had one Final Four to show for it.

At least we know you started watching Virginia last week.

They still can’t score.

Virginia ranks No. 7 in points/possession, No. 3 in AdjO and No. 20 in Effective FG%. Only reason you think they "can't score" is because you stare at the final box. Virginia plays at the very slowest tempo in the country, which may not make the final score look sexy to the casual observer, but they are one of the most-efficient offenses in the country.

My memory is a little rusty, has UVA ever made it to a Final Four?

They need to win the championship this year to redeem themselves.

Not really. Nobody is scared of them. They are the current version of Wake Forest in the mid-late 90s.

They’ve been to two final fours. None since 1984.

I never realized how God awful their program was before Terry Holland/Ralph Sampson. Outside of the early 80s and the last 5 years, they have generally been a garbage program.

I disagree. Bennett finally getting over the hump and at least making the Final Four will redeem them. No shame at all if Duke with Zion beats them again.

If Purdue drains as many 3s as they did against UT, UVA is getting blown the frick out. That team isn’t built to score 80+.

UVA has success in the ACC because they’re the only team running that annoying arse system. What are you gonna game plan for? The one strategy you’ll see one or two times a season or the styles that are far more common?

Mid-majors usually see all the styles so they aren’t afraid of UVAs geriatric pace. I have Purdue over UVA in the elite 8. Similar styles but Purdue is smoking hot from 3 land.

We didn’t focus on sports until the 80s. We went from being a school for wayward drunks, to a major public university in that period.

I say that with affection though. In many ways it was more interesting then.

And the last team besides Duke that scored 80 on UVA (thus requiring uva to score 80 to win)? Hint: there’s no one. UVA has an elite scoring defense. Purdue will have difficulty scoring like that on UVA

This isn’t like the triple option in football. UVA isn’t doing anything unheard of. They have a slower tempo and play defense like a python squeezing its prey. You’re telling me Duke can’t prepare for a great defensive team?

Huh? Mid majors see all styles? What the frick is this nonsense based on? There’s not many ‘styles’ to basketball. You play big, or play small. You play fast or slow. You prefer to double team in the post, or maybe not. There’s 5 guys on your team on the floor. You are limited in what you can do. UVA does what they do very, very well.
