Far worse. Some Auburn fans were already Panthers fans. Literally no L2U fans cared about Cincinnati before they took Little Joey.

Saints grabbing Michael Thomas in the 2nd round of 2016 and Kamara in the third the next year is damn good. Also Marshon Lattimore and Ramczyk in the first round before Kamara.

These types of threads always crack me up. It happens to every fan base. Something really good suddenly happens and they start a "Has this ever been done before?" thread only to find that it has happened a lot.

This has happened with Vol baseball a couple of times on the SECR over the past year or two.

Nope. No nfl team could ever hope to match the skill of those two
I would say it’s pretty rare nfl teams draft back to back all pro/hof players(if that happens)in back to back years with the their first picks

Likely less than 10 times in nfl history, but since this board bas so much Burrow butthurt they will act like it’s extremely common

Maybe we should wait a few years before we start crowning these guys.

Yet there are a bunch of examples of exactly what you are describing. Except the Bengals are not at that level yet.

No, there aren’t a bunch of examples

There are only 123 hall of famers total drafted in the first round The average team only has 4 1st round hall of famers in their entire history

Broken out by teams

Arizona Cardinals (4)

Atlanta Falcons (4)

Baltimore Colts (2)

Baltimore Ravens (5)

Buffalo Bills (5)

Chicago Bears (16)

Chicago Cardinals (2)

Chicago Rockets (AAFC) (Chicago Hornets - 1949 - AAFC) (1)

Cincinnati Bengals (1)

Cleveland Browns (6)

Dallas Cowboys (9)

Dallas Texans (NFL) (1)

Denver Broncos (6)

Detroit Lions (9)

Green Bay Packers (5)

Houston Oilers (3)

Houston Texans (1)

Indianapolis Colts (5)

Kansas City Chiefs (7)

Los Angeles Raiders (5)

Los Angeles Rams (10)

Miami Dolphins (5)

Minnesota Vikings (7)

New England Patriots (5)

New Orleans Saints (3)

New York Bulldogs (NFL) (1)

New York Giants (5)

New York Jets (8)

Oakland Raiders (9)

Philadelphia Eagles (8)

Pittsburgh Steelers (11)

San Diego Chargers (4)

San Francisco 49ers (9)

Seattle Seahawks (8)

St. Louis Rams (3)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5)

Tennessee Titans (3)

Washington Redskins (10)

So, huge IF still on burrow and chases future, but if this is what they become, yes it’s extremely rare for it to happen for the same team with back to back #1 picks

Ah so now it is just HoF players...

Unlikely the Bengals are on this list either

I think that’s the entire premise of the thread…. If chase and burrow continue on their trend, it’s extrnely extremely rare in nfl history

Not a difficult concept

Ah since the OP never actually said anything about the HoF, I see the problem.

Most people are not assuming that Burrow and Chase are heading to the HoF.

They need to get a great player this year to make up for the shitty 2019 pick of mediocre Jonah Williams. Another Gump bust. They need to string three LSU-type generational players in a row that love the game like LSU players do, not get some over-rated scrub that had the love of football killed by his tyrannical coach.

The other unique thing about burrow and chase, is the instant success with back to back 1st picks

One will finish 3rd in mvp voting in his second year

The other is all pro as a rookie

Very very very rare as well

Likely less than 10 times in nfl history,

Randy White / Too Tall Jones
Derrick Thomas/ Neil Smith

Lawrence Taylor/ Mark Haynex( 2x all pro)

Floyd Little/Curley Culp( both Hofers) -Broncos

Eddie George/ Steve McNair

Bruce Matthews/ Mike Munchak( both hofers)

In addition to the nearly 10 examples that have been given here already. And I know I'm overlooking a few more.

So far I can find 7 combos in nfl history that made the HOF after being a teams 1st pick in back to back years

If their trend holds burrow and chase will join a very rare group

I am struggling to find any combo where the teammates had as instant high profile success and burrow and chase though

Knucklehead, you just said HOF / All pro , but you're now putting 2 rookies in the HoF . Jeez.

Carry on with the slurping.
