How does Jrue take it to the basket? Some players, like Harden, seek out the contact. Harden is 6’5” and built, and he goes through contact on purpose.

It's pretty bad man... Joel and David Wesley have aneurysms nightly. He doesn't get the most routine of calls. We're talking guys running into him full speed not playing the ball on a fast break bad sometimes. Harden has developed selling the contact. Jrue doesn't sell it ever. He gets whacked and fights through it to try to finish the play. It's kind of chicken or the egg... if he's not expecting the right call to be made, what's the better choice, trying to sell the contact or trying to finish the shot if you can?

What happened to the league penalizing and fining flopping? I get WHY Harden and other players sell contact so ridiculously. It's the correct play from a winning perspective.

The problem is that the NBA has let it get to this point. The fouls that are consistently enforced are so arbitrary too. If you so much as lay a finger on a jump shooter, it's an automatic foul. That's not an exaggeration. Hack at players driving to the hoop? Inconsistent. Consistently throw hands into the back of rebounders to push them out of the way? Inconsistent. Grabbing and holding players trying to cut across the lane? Inconsistent even though there was supposed to be a huge emphasis this year. Then you got offensive guys that are creating the majority of the contact and are rewarded inconsistently. Standing straight up with hands up to contest a shot at the rim? Inconsistent as all hell.

Don't even get me started on offensive/defensive 3 seconds, palming, and traveling. Those happen 50+ times a game each, so it's baffling to me when they call them EVER when they are minor examples of those infractions.

The only thing that absolves the NBA somewhat is how little these inconsistencies visibly affect the game. A big incorrect/inconsistently-called penalty in football can be such a massive game changer at any point in the game, whereas a stupid call in the first 3.5 quarters in the NBA hardly makes too much of a difference unless they start adding up in bunches.

Basketball is a wonderful sport. I hate that the NBA represents it.

The main things I hate about the NBA is that they have the most gifted basketball players/athletes on the planet. Then they allow them to cheapen their sport with the constant traveling, flopping, and other cheap shite. Instead of saying, we have the players on the planet, we are going to hold them to a higher standard. Instead it's street ball on steroids.

Not only that, I'd argue the talent level in the NBA is at an all time high. You have multiple stars on good/mediocre/bad teams all over the league. It's crazy.

Exactly.

Besides bitching like a little kid after the play, what is Lebron supposed to do while all 3 defenders he drives by slap him in the goddamn face?

And here's the thing about Harden..

He and the refs have created this situation where defenders KNOW they can't touch him most of the time.

So obviously, Harden tries to get them to touch him.

And.......WHEN it works.....it's like it's just understood that BAM, that's automatically a foul. GOT EM TO SWIPE.

That doesn't mean Harden is better at drawing fouls. It means he gets the goddamn call while Lebron doesn't.

Shay can we focus on this :

Last night was the second time that James Harden has had a game with 45+ points, 5+ assists, 5+ rebounds, and 5+ steals He's the first player since Michael Jordan with multiple 45-5-5-5s

And that hammer hardwn threw down on rude Gobert with his right hand.

Give me a break

He missed 17 shots. He missed 8 threes. He had as many turnovers as assists.

Clearly it wasn't a bad game. But it wasn't history

I'm not going to criticize Harden for actually doing what he does to create foul calls. He's trying to win basketball games. It's the NBA's fault for rewarding the ridiculousness. I've also frequently said I think Harden could average 37-40 a game if he wanted to. I agree with Chris Paul, he is one of the best natural scorers the game has ever seen.

Funny. It's a wasted effort though. The league has already determined the legality of his move.

How many times is the resident MSB Pels fan population going to bitch and moan about Hardwn? Hes only been playing this style since he came into the league.

He'll be standing at the podium to the Basketball Hall of Fame and there will probably STILL be Pels fans bitching about him.

Hes an all-time great.

I didnt see one call last night that couldnt be justified. In fact, I havent seen many foul calls as a result of Hardwn that weren't justified for the entirety of this season.

Refs have been checking their calls for years and still deem the calls for Hardwn correct.

You cant defend Hardwn and flail your arms with no control of your center of gravity. Hardwn has legendary hand and body control, a true gift of his craft that he works on heavily every offseason.

If your boy Jrue or AD wanted to hone their craft they're more than welcome to give HardWn a call for a few pointers. Hes a nice guy like that.

After this season hardwn will have four consecutive first team all nba awards and five in 6 years at a time when the talent in the league is higher than it has ever been. Do you think hardwn will be able to crack the top 10 all time? Top 20 is almost a given at this point isn’t it.

Comeon man. If you can't watch the video in the OP and call that the wrong call, you're blatantly a homer and a hypocrite for bitching at the Pels fans for being biased in their opinions.

FOUL call. What was in the OP was a rare sloppy step back. But the Pels wagon treats every Hardwn missed call like this grand systemic conspiracy to advantage Hardwn's game.

They called a FOUL you moron. That's not a "sloppy step back", that's multiple step backs and an obvious travel.

Never mind, you're just not worth discussing anything with. You clearly don't read AND comprehend what people say or even what you're saying.

Correct.

But you CAN do it against other players, especially Lebron, without getting called for a foul.

The NBA is officiated much better than NCAA-like not even close

And college basketball isn’t real basketball for myriad of reasons.

But hell yeah that was inexcusable non call on Harden

If he keeps this up for 3 more years it'll be close. Hes overshadowed in his era by more flashy guys like Lebron. The low IQ types are all about their Saturday morning highlight reels. More difficult for them to appreciate the detail of the Harden craft that occurs nightly.

They like guys like Jrue Holliday, Russell Westbrook, Lebron James, and Julius Randle, the football player type athletes. Not pure basketball players with artful skill.
