This has been an issue brewing for some time. However, as long as Daniel Snyder has the money, nothing will be done.

Guess I'm in the minority here, but I think the name does sound like a slur (and I like the team). Red Tails is a dumb name and I don't have a better solution, but I actually agree it should be changed.

WTF is a Redtail? If anything, change it back to the Warriors, which is what their original name was, I believe.

I remember back in the 90s Nicholls held a vote among the students to come up w/ a new mascot and I believe the Nutria was selected but the university president (Hulbert, I think?) vetoed it...

The name is offensive. If a white man can't go to a Halloween party in blackface, then the politically correct capital of the world shouldn't have a team called the Redskins.

Never was Washington Warriors.
Started out as Boston Braves when they played at Braves Field, then switched to Boston Redskins (to separate their identity from the Boston Braves baseball team, unlike what St. Louis and NY did with the Cardinals and Giants), after they moved to Fenway Park, then finally moved to Washington as the Redskins.

The new Nicholls mascot is more offensive than the colonel. It looks like a Nazi stormtrooper.
DC has a history of changing team names due to political correctness. And Bullets is far less offensive than the NFL team's name.
