and he has a super bowl ring. don't worry he's not going to MSU anyways.

Dungy won that superbowl like Mike Shula won the 2009 BCS title.

Maybe Saban can find a place for Dooley on his staff after this season?

Of a coach that has two years of collegiate coaching experience, both of which were over 20 years ago?

Has Gruden ever recruited high school kids? Serious question.

Maybe support staff. Bobby Williams is doing okay with TEs. Special teams are meh.

It's irrelevant because he's going to coach an NFL team, he's too good for college football.

Not sure if serious but Gruden averaged winning only 7 or so games per year the next 6 and final years of his coaching career. Coaching does not automatically transfer from one level to another. I am sure he can coach but can he do all the things necessary to be a successful college coach? Maybe but it sure isn't a slam dunk.

In terms of X's and O's, Jon Gruden would be the best football coach in the SEC on day 1.

Recruiting is the difference in college football. You could let Bill Belichech(sp, I'm sure) game plan all year with the UK roster to face Les Miles and LSU, and Les is still going to win 10 out 10 times.

You're an idiot. Do you have any idea how advanced the NFL is compared to the SEC?

Gruden would fail in college just like Saban failed in the pros

I'd be a lot more comfortable taking an NFL guy and trying to acclimate him to the college game, than sending a college guy to the NFL, I know that much.

Again, discussion isn't even SEC related, because Gruden's next job will be as a head coach in the NFL.

In the profile, Gumbel and a camera crew filmed Gruden at his Tampa office, where he arrives at 4 a.m. on most days to break down football tape.

I don't understand this. What would be so wrong with getting up at 7 and seeing your kids before school, maybe even having breakfast with them?

I've never seen anything from him to indicate he'd be a home-run college HC hire.

This. As a reformed TB Bucs fan...he sucks.

I don't think he has what it takes to suck up to the families and runners of college age kids.

Besides, according to most here, Boom is on the hot seat and UF will hire him.
