He's good for a few laughs. He's basically a parody of himself at this point.
Not everyone needs to watch the game and have the game broken down in expert fashion. Some people don't mind watching the game and being entertained at the same time

NFL fans love cliche.
They don't want Bill Walsh or Tony Romo.
They have been shown over and over again to want BOOM! And fat guys and Turkey legs.
Gruden is just following in the tradition of the most popular NFL analyst of all time.
Bill Walsh got run out of town in the 90's because he was too smart and NFL fans hated him for being too smart.

That’s one reason I wish he would be replaced. I loved the Sunday night broadcasts with Patrick and Theisman.

Gruden is awesome if ou don’t need every play broken down for you. He’s over the top for sure but he does Gruden well. He’s good at breaking down a play here and there to fill dead air time. But don’t go into t expecting a coaching clinic. That’s not his job.

He obviously can break down plays like Romo. It isn’t like Romo possesses this skill and he does not. He just chooses not to it or is told to not do it.

He's to the NFL what Dick Vitale is to college basketball. A terrible commentator and a bullshite artist cheerleader for the sport, its players and coaches.

He's fun, but will rarely provide commentary that a knowledged NFL fan couldn't see with their own eyes.
