With Brady retiring, all eyes are now on the Fox booth. Ny Post has a write up with this interesting bit,

quote:

As for Olsen, the prevailing wisdom is he may get a raw deal. We are a long-run contrarian on this point of view. He is 37 and is making around $10 million a year. When Brady arrives, Olsen will be slotted down to the No. 2 spot on Fox’s depth chart and will make in the $3 million range.

Lot of people think Brady never makes it to the booth and backs out. I'm sure we will see Brady alongside his pal Gronk on Fox pregame in less than two weeks.

At the same time, he's only making his current salary because Aikman left. And FWIW, I think Olsen does a good job. But he's still being paid handsomely even at $3 million to work about 50 days a year doing a job most could only dream of.

Yeah, he’s only the number one guy because he was the best option available for this season after Aikman went to ESPN.

All Olsen did for me was make me appreciate Aikman more

Olsen called games at 3 sound like a C cast, NFC South coverage. $3 million is still highly overpaid, Fox is looking for the next Romo/Aikman and Olsen is not the answer.

Brady has always seemed kinda dull in his press conferences so my guess is that he'll be another Brees but we'll see.

Olsen was obviously a rookie but he seems like he could be really good with more experience.

Not a lot of people want to listen to Brady. Just like with Peyton.

It will sour quickly

So Olsen will go from calling the Super Bowl to an immediate #2 to a guy that hasn’t ever been an analyst?

I think he’s a little more smooth and confident than Brees is. He’s been pretty good off the cuff on the golf matches on TNT I’ve seen.

It doesn't matter if Brady is good or bad. Posters on the MSB will shite on him.

Question: Why are they forcing this guy to take such a huge pay cut? Why not demote Olsen to the B team but keep his salary the same or comparable to what it is now? Fox clearly has plenty of money on hand if they're willing to give Brady $37.5 million/year. They can't afford to pay their color commentator on their B team $7 million or $8 million a year?

Idk what y’all are talking about. Olsen is the best young analyst there is. He’s soooo much better than Romo.

Trickle down. I don't know how many games Fox handles any given sunday, but then you're stuck giving raises to 3-4 other analysts.

Definitely something sketchy going on with all of the Romo hate being published. Some money has it out for Romo. Whether it's on CBS' side or a competitor, who knows.
