This is no secret if you watched him pitch in the 90's.

He always, always, always, always, got that first pitch strike called that was a foot off the plate outside.

Always. Catcher would frame it up...Ump would call it. Braves taught that to all their pitchers.

Umps in the 90's were total dumbasses. They called a strike if you threw a perfect strike to the catcher regarless of how far the catcher was off the plate.

Which is why it was strange people were shocked by Livian Hernandez, Braves had been doing it all during the 90's. Pitch outside, pitch outside, pitch off the plate, frame it way off the plate...but right height and perfect strike to the catcher. He would sit right behind the plate and then move outside just before the pitch was thrown.
