Its stupid to give QB's all the credit, but this contention is absurd. People grossly underestimate how good UT's defense was that year and the role they played in setting up VY's heroics. in the Ohio State game that year, everyone remembers VY lead the game winning TD drive and that fits the narrative that QB's win games, what they forget is VY had 2 picks and a fumble in that game. UT held tOSU to 5 FG's including 2 when they were inside the 20. tOSU converts on either of those drives, no last minute TD matters. Same in the USC game if White gets that 4th and 2. Vince deserves the accolades for what he did, but he doesn't win squat with out key plays from the D, which BTW held USC, one of the best offenses in CFB history 12 points (2 TD's) below their season avg.

As far as USC being stacked, so was Texas, IIRC, more Texas players from that game played in the NFL than USC players. All 4 of UT's starting DB's in that game where drafted in the first 2 rounds.

of all the ridiculous things you've said on this board, this ranks as one of the absolute dumbest and that's saying a lot.

If you think LenDale White failed because of that 4th down play, you are even worse than i thought

he was a backup his freshman year, playing a trent richardson like role.
Tebow had a far more crucial role as a freshman to Florida then T Rich did for Bama.

Tim Tebow had 89 rushing attempts for 469 yards and 8 TD's his Freshman year. Trent had 145 carries for 751 yards and 8 TD's. Pretty similar IMO.

A 2nd string RB on a run first team is much different then a situational QB that was used for a wildcat dive.

Not really. Many would argue that without the 1-2 punch of Igram and Richardson we would have lost some games that year (hell, Trent had a couple of great moments and a 100 yard game againt texas).
