Warning, will need tissues. What a great person and family. Amazing he can still do what he does at 37 years old and to come back after the family tragedy and play. What a great story.

Great story on Kyle Korver and his family after the loss of his brother.

Had no idea he was that old.

I remember watching him with Creighton during the tournament

The plan was for the liver to be flown to Iowa and for Kirk to undergo surgery on the morning of March 20.

"At 4 a.m., they intubated him. At 10 o'clock, he coded for the first time. About 11, 11:30, he coded the second time. And we pulled all the machines off at 1 o'clock," Kevin said. "So we went from 'He's going to get a liver. He was the No. 1 option' to 'Your son is dead.' And that was in 15 hours. I mean, you talk about roller coaster. ... That is as intimate and raw as you can be as a family."

shite. Damn.

So still no word on what caused his organs to fail?

It's hard to not root for him. I would love for him to win it all this year and see him hoist that trophy.

I was at UMKC while Kirk was playing there. Never knew him well, but I saw him up at the basketball courts regularly. He was an incredibly nice guy, really sad that he is gone so young. I can’t imagine how hard that has been on his family.

There are really only two reasons why previously healthy men in their 20s go into fulminant liver failure (and subsequent kidney failure) that quickly: Tylenol overdose and acute alcoholic hepatitis.

Without taking away from the horrible tragedy his family is going through, he almost certainly did this to himself. The documentary seems to hint he was depressed.

I am no expert on the subject but if it was something his brother had done that was of the abuse type. I would think that would cause issues with getting a transplant? Like how smokers have trouble getting lung transplants

Side note to the sad story:

It’s incredible that Kover has played in the NBA for like 2 decades now and still had zero black guys in his wedding his wedding photos were like hitlers wet dream

Korver is a really great guy. Terrible he and his family had to go through that.

Not necessarily, especially in the case of Tylenol overdose.
