More club head speed

Jack and Tiger seemed to have plenty of club head speed with the interlock.

Overlapping quiets your right or low hand. Interlock can cause more wrist action and whip of the club. And again it is just uncomfortable for me. Not strangling the club with overlap.

I have always read that it depends on the size of your hands. People with smaller hands should use the interlocking grip.

I have gone back and forth but I am presently using the interlocking grip.

To me it seems like I have a better grip on the club using to interlocking grip.

This is the biggest difference I'm noticing.

I do neither

My right pinkie touches my left index finger, but I neither overlap or interlock. I didn't realize so many people did either one of those. I played in college and only one guy on our team interlocked. No one overlapped.

So you played on a college golf team full of baseball grip players?

Yeah. Best player was a scratch player. The interlocker was a 4 handicap. Back then, I was around an 8. I was better then....this was in 2005 Ftr. I'm lucky if I play once a year now. I left after one season...scholarships didn't add up to what I was promised. Small school in Oklahoma.

I've also never used a glove on my left hand. Bare palm FTW.

The fact that they promised you anything with an 8 handicap should have been a red flag.

If you had the right sized grips, hand size would be pretty irrelevant to the grip.

To answer the OP, I think the grip should be used to your advantage based on your typical shot or shot direction. If you have over active hands, overlap could be beneficial. If you want to hit predominantly a fade or draw, you can also choose a grip to help you do that.

I play an overlap grip, because I like to hit a cut shot as my primary shot shape.

If you were an 8, they were probably trying to be nice to you in regards to letting you play on the team. Schools aren't really handing out scholarships to 8's these days.

I was a red shirt a) they thought I had a lot of potential to be much better than where I was. Probably did, will never know now. b) wasn't technically a scholarship team. It was a NCCAA Division 2 team. They couldn't give out sports scholarships, they just tried to pay everyone's way using other types. First year of the team as well.

* NCCAA
National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association. We were basically the equivalent of a NAIA school.

I wish I had my 8. I'm a 20ish now. haven't been able to play since I had shoulder surgery last May. I've only played once in two years at this point. I'm going to play in a couple weeks hopefully. I'll bookmark this thread and let you all know how bad I am now.

Looks like you talked to the wrong schools.
