I don't know why, but I kinda choked up watching Steelman break down there at the end when the band was playing. Tough way to end your career there.

That is heartbreaking. I wish all football games had this emotion.

Partly because they made such a huge deal about "Singing second means you win, these kids have never got to sing second."

I've watched many an emotional athlete. I believe this is the first time I have with one.

Like Gary said, I'm not even going to pretend to know how he feels right now. Kid fought his arse off to win this game.

yeah man... I cheer for Navy every year in this game... but that kid has been the starting QB for the last 4 of those games (all losses) and has heartbreaking endings in at least 2 of those. he laid every ounce of heart and desire into this 1 game and came up about 15 yards short and will probably get credit (for lack of a better term) for the game losing turnover. I can't even begin to imagine how he feels

but you know what... he'll make 1 hell of an officer and leader for the US Army and will have men that will be willing to die for him

This is why this is the last game of the regular season. This is what football is supposed to be about. Sooner or later, Navy is going to taste this. Im proud to be an Army veteran. Pure class by the Cadets!

There are people on here who do NOT realize what a great football game we watched, Coming from a bunch of players that are going to serve 5 years for this country going into some UNGODLY places and puting THERE lives at risk for US.

Pretty tasteless of CBS guys to keep putting the camera on him.

I disagree.

It just highlights how much this game means. Both teams leave it on the field and it hurts when they lose.

I'll tell you, this game probably has a hell of a lot more meaning than any of the BS matchups we'll watch during Bowl season.

Would be funny if they dropped the trophy on Biden's foot.

I think this was the first time I have ever watched a the entire army/navy game. It was a great game, and I found myself emotionally invested in it. I think that is why I choked up when Steelman broke down. I feel bad for them. That's a tough way to end your football career. Nevermind the fact that he's in the service.

I felt the same way. I think you get tied in to them having lost so many in a row, being so close and then losing it like this.

Plus this isn't just any rivalry. This is Army-Navy. The 1 game that these guys work their tails off all year for.

There are alot of grudge matches in football, alot of historical rivalries. But I don't think you can name another game that means more to the players and fans/members than this game. Maybe it's the history of what 100+ yrs, or maybe it's the fact that it's the two service academy's. But you can just feel it watching the game no matter how close or a blow out.

Yeah like it's one thing to lose a game straight up, but to fumble it on your own after driving what looked like to be a game winning drive with a minute left.. against your rival who has beaten you 10 straight seasons.. and this is their superbowl.. and he's a Senior..

I felt bad for him. I was originally rooting for Navy, but now I genuinely wish Army had pulled it off.

Couldn't agree more. CBS is doing their job and showing both ends of the spectrum at the end. Celebration and commiseration. I am glad they showed Steelmans emotion. The kid just played his last football game and probably feels like its his fault they lost when they wouldn't have been in the game without him. This is my first year watching the game, but i will watch from now on.
