Why do they even have a gay men's choir?

They were gonna lip synch? The whole thing was a sham anyways? How many national anthems are faked like that?

It's a choir. They couldn't have sung live? They needed a recording for the national anthem?

While I can certainly understand their anger, for me, this should go into the "who gives a shite" file. I seriously doubt gay men are a real target market for the Padres or MLB. It's just pandering.

None of that was enough for the executive director of the chorus, reports CBS San Diego affiliate KFMB-TV. Bob Lehman issued a lengthy statement on the group's Facebook page that began, "What should have been a night of joy and celebration at Petco Park last night, instead turned into a nightmare raising serious questions about homophobia within the San Diego Padres organization and its relationship with the LGBT community."

Something goofy happened. They were scheduled to sing on Pride night and yet someone played a tape recording while they were on the field getting ready to sing.

I don't care either way, but if you invite a choir to sing you shouldn't pull shite like that regardless of who is singing.

Wait, they did it intentionally?

Right?!

1. It doesn't mean the Padres hate gay people.

2. Baseball fans in a community with a large Latino population aren't openly accepting of gay people? STOP THE PRESSES!

3. WHO CARES?! Not everyone is going to accept you for being gay, trans, genderqueer, or otherkin.

They had a tape of themselves, the wrong tape was played.

This is what they get for lip synching

So the Padres apologized, then dismissed the personnel in the control room and apologized again. Now the Choir wants the city attorney's office to investigate.

It's amazing.

The wrong lipsync tape was played. No evidence of any wrongdoing. No evidence of any abuse.

Padres apologize. Ridiculous-that-it-exists chorus wants a human rights investigation.

Exhibit A as to why there seems to be tension between gay advocacy (not just regular gay people) and sports. People in the comments are decrying machismo in sports, meanwhile, the gay chorus is demanding pseduo-criminal action because someone played the wrong tape and they felt embarrassed. Way to play right into the hands of detractors.

Of course they do. With this group, there are never, ever, ever any mistakes made against them. There is ALWAYS a sinister, ulterior motive where people are out to get them.

OK, that makes sense. LOL. They had never planned to sing live and the wrong tape was played. Now was the wrong tape played on purpose?
