I find this hard to believe, but who knows. Tech doesn't even own Atlanta, but it gives the Big Ten a reach into the Deep South if it wants to be a national conference. Doesn't do much for football, but it gives big ten schools and maybe ND a place in the Deep South for recruiting.

GaTech should give Rutgers a run for their money when it comes to wins.

If the B10 thinks adding the likes of UCLA and GT will "beat" the SEC well...good luck.

LOL. It might be to entice ND. Get Stanford and Tech and ND figures it is part of a national conference.

And this is good for the SEC. The SEC can cherry pick the best schools of the ACC. The South is growing so doubling-down on the South may not be a bad policy.

Imagine the University of Washington Women's Volleyball Team travelling from Seattle to Atlanta on a random Tuesday to play a Big 10 conference match.

no idea what this means

1) it's a never ending race to become more influential/richer, etc. there's no defined time limit as to when the "race" will end

2) as a UM fan, why would I want to add another heavyweight to the mix and almost assure another conference loss

3) the B1G is a very prestigious conference academically. when ucla and usc join in 2024, 15 of the 16 will be AAU members, which is a requirement to join the big 10 (nebraska was an AAU member when they applied to join, but had their membership removed a year later)

GT is regarded as a top flight research institution, and would be seen not only as adding to the big 10's academic glory, but also as a gateway for the current members to go to a recruiting hotbed

That's not something I would've even contemplated yesterday.

I was saying this a couple weeks ago when all this dumb realignment talk startd. This is going to be absolute hell on every non-football school. Heck not even jus tthe washington womens volleyball team but even bigger programs like men's basketball. UCLA traveling from cali to fricking new jersey to play rutgers in a conference game on Tuesday night is a logistical head scratcher. The game will be in the afternoon west coast time so they're going to obviously miss all tuesday classes anjd potentially monday/wednesday as well. And for what purpose? So the league can make more money?

The "student athlete" went extinct years ago and sadly it's not coming back.

They will have a conference with no geographical identity . What's funny is that they Tech, USC, and UCLA will be on islands. The fact FOX is willing to pay more for the "Atlanta" market when Tech has very little of it speaks volumes. Tech is getting over bigly

i don't think Notre Dame even makes a decision for at least two more years. no reason to make one right now.

Doesn’t the ACC have a huge buyout because they just signed a 10 year deal?

Rutgers would have dogwalked GT last year.

There is certainly a future that could see GA Tech, UVA and UNC (maybe Duke, too?) in the B1G but it would take 8 schools looking to leave to blow up the ACC's GOR agreement early. I don't think SEC/ESPN are in a hurry to take Clemson, FSU, Miami, etc. to help make that happen since it helps the B1G more than it helps anyone else.

They care more about money than actually winning championships. The Big10 has been making more $ than the SEC for a while now.

They simply want Ga Tech for the TV market. They don’t care about the state of the program.

If the Big10 added Georgia Tech along with USC and UCLA they'd have 10 of their member institutions ranked inside the Top 50. SEC has 10 schools ranked outside the Top 100.

Unless the ACC completely collapses, I have no idea how any team gets out of their grant of rights. It doesn’t expire until 2036.

As I recall the reason they lost it is the medical school is located in Omaha, not Lincoln.

The Nebraska university system seems similar to Wisconsin's at a quick glance. What every one calls UW is actually UW-Madison, just like Nebby is UN-Lincoln. They also have a UN-Omaha while there are a number of UW schools including UW-Milwaukee and UW-Green Bay.
