G5 pecking order.

The thread with the question about ND State got me wondering about this. I don’t know enough about the various G5 conferences to have an opinion and I’m curious as to what y’all think, though the AAC looks at a glance to have a decent group of teams.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The conferences as a whole I would put in two tiers for football:
Tier 1: American, MWC, PAC, Sun Belt
Tier 3: CUSA, MAC
The top 2-4 in tier 1 are all pretty even, some conferences might have a better middle than the others in a given year.
Tier 3 may have 1 team that could play and possibly beat one of the top 2-4 teams in Tier 1, but not a discernible difference from the middle and bottom of those conferences, just a team that will need to run the table and not slip up on a short week playing in front of 3500 fans on a random Tuesday night.

It's now a G6 and I'd say the PAC is the strongest G6 conference with a fight between the MAC and MWC for the worst conference.

I grew up (and live) in the middle of MAC country and this kind of surprises me (though maybe it shouldn’t).

Except for a few AAC programs and Boise State they’re mostly all the same

The Mountain West has 4 or 5 teams that would win the MAC every year.
In a normal year it’s probably
Pac whatever
AAC
Sunbelt
Conf USA
MWC
MAC

Based off of H2H winning percentages.
1. AAC
2. SBC
3. MWC
4. CUSA
5. MAC
The new PAC is too early to rate. Boise is the king of the G5.
