What a play Geno
I said not to piss him off when he is playing like he is right now. Best player on the ice tonight.
Should have never been that close.

I shall quote RMNB's recap:
Yeah, it was that bad. Caps played like doggy poo, got dominated throughout, and still had a chance to win at the end, only losing 4-3. Should've been worse.
Though, hats off to the refs. After last game, tensions were predictably high for this one. They called it super tight, never losing control of the game, and never letting it get out of hand. It was probably TOO tight, and it lead to a parade of penalties on both sides and virtually no 5-5 play for the 1st two periods. But, it was also completely understandable and not the worst idea of the world. The refs were a major factor, but that's honestly both of the teams' fault for their last game.

I didn’t like this game and I don’t like you. I like only my dog and tacos. Everything else sucks, starting with the Caps, then followed by the weather, and then back to the Caps again,. Let’s get this over with quickly.
Instead of sweeping the Pittsburgh Penguins in the regular-season series, the Capitals played maybe their worst game of the season. There were glimmers of awesome, but they were islanded in a stream of suck.

Should have been way worse.
Glad this team is starting to click again, the line changes have completely worked. Getting Ehrhoff back is huge and adding more B6 depth today will only help more.
Hopefully the rumors are true and we add another defenseman, need one more. Pouliot is legit though, we're set with him, Maatta, and Letang.

It was probably TOO tight,
No kidding, I didn't have a dog in the fight, but just wanted to watch some hockey. Seemed like the Pens were on the power play 2/3's of the time that I watched.

Yeah, it was an aesthetically terrible game. And that many power plays just ruined any rhythm. It was a bad hockey game due to over-officiating. That said, it was a game that needed to be over-officiated, so I'm not going to complain. We made that bed, so we get to lie in it.
But yeah, I wouldn't read too much into that game. It was such a penalty-fest, it didn't resemble a normal game. Hard to be too upset by it.

Baloo, if the Leafs are willing to dump salary and start rebuild as advertised. Do you think the Caps go after anyone?
I know you think that the Caps have Defense and that is what the Leafs need, other than just folding.
I still hope to get Phanuef and/or Glenncross in Blue, Blanc et Rouge though.
Do you know who Glenncross' 6 teams that he is willing to be traded to are? As he has a no-trade clause.

Why Phaneuf? Why????? His contract ends in 2019. He gets $8M this year, and averages like 7.25M a year until 2019. He has gotten progressively worse each year. He's still good, but not 2nd highest paid defensemen in the league good....

It's the trade we wanted for the guy we needed. The Kings are in ice-beast mode right now, and Sekera is only going to make LA better.
GKG!

Because you can never have too many Defensemen.
Think about this...
Markov
Pernell
Phanuef
Smith-Pelly
Tinordi
Drewiskie
That is 6 solid guys for next season. Phanuef would be replacing Gonchar. If healthy he can move to the first pairing to replace Markov, who will help Tinordi or Drewiskie out. Smith-Pelly I think will be another solid not spectacular player, but someone who you can count on.
The Cap really is not in horrible shape, As CP31, Pernell, Max, Parenteau, etc all are signed through 2016. I think Phanuef would restructure, I also think the cap will move again up.

While this may be true, here's what the future schedule looks like:
- Anaheim 2x
- Rangers
- Islanders
- Chicago
- Nashville
- Montreal
- Pittsburgh
You have some creampuff games mixed in there too against Edmonton & Arizona, but that is a murderous March.....
Still, February wasn't an easy schedule and y'all haven't lost since 2/5

MB is 14 million under the cap now. He WILL NOT mortgage our future and has stated this the last two years. Yeah that's too expensive for dion.

DSP is a right winger NOT a defenseman.

You forgot Nathan beaulieu and Pateryn on the blue line as well.

We've beaten Tampa twice, the caps, the sharks, and Detroit during our streak. We are going to finish strong

Yep. A little high price, but it was the right move

I'll bet he is so psyched to get out of Jersey to go to FLA right now

The Jackets and Leafs just straight up swapped Horton and Clarkson.
I like Horton a lot. Hope he can play again but at least Clarkson can skate currently.
