Head scratching. At least we get a point out of it

I only made one game this year and it was when I was visiting my family during thanksgiving. It was the game we beat the Caps in OT. I hadnt been to a game in 6 years before that because I was living in Louisiana. Missed seeing the barn rock.

That's okay you haven't missed much since Pierre Turgeon left.....

And the islanders don't have a barn it's more like a neglected tool shed.

Haven't won a playoff series since 1993. You could have had a kid after the last playoff series they won and that kid would now be able to drink. I do partly blame this on Dale Hunter. Pierre was a sniper on Sega Genesis.

I have finally given up on being able to win the division. The first round vs Tampa Bay will be a good one. I just hope that they can maintain home ice for that series.

The injury bug, lack of anything resembling a PP, and lack of road scoring is going to be painful to watch. It has also probably taken the Hart away, unless they can figure out how to score.

I really hope that the Flames trade Glencross to the Habs.

Wut. Only way you play them in the first round is if Detroit wins the division, which I don't think is happening. I think at worst, you guys play Detroit as the 2 or 3.

I think Detroit wins the division because Montreal cant score and injury bug. I do not think Tampa wins the division. It will be fun to watch the Bruins fall apart and miss the playoffs though.

Yep. That was the year we beat them in the conference finals and went on to win our 24th cup.

Oh, snap.

Hunter got the longest suspension in pro sports history for an on-field incident up to that point for that hit. It was the dirtiest hit in his career, which is saying something.

The league was different then, and the line was a little further over than it is now... but that crossed the line in any era. There was no reason for it.

That year and run will never be repeated.

The start of not shaving until series was over, now these clowns take it until playoffs are over.
11 straight wins
10 OT wins
All 3 seeds made the Conference Finals
The McSorley stick in game 2 of the SCF
Hextall and Roy in round 1 badgering each other

But the best was ESPN carrying the games and no matter what you think of them, they did great job covering hockey. They had just gotten it back from SportsChannel and made Bill and Gary their number 1 team.

Jacques Demers had brass balls.

2 minutes to go in game 2. Down a goal at home. Already down 1-0 in the series.

Tells Kerry Fraser that Marty has an illegal stick.

Boom. Penalty. Last gasp chance

Then he doubles down and pulls ROY for a 6 on 4 advantage on the PP. frickING BRASS BALLS.

then my boy saves the day........

DESJAAAAAAARDDIIIIIIIINS.

THEY HAVE TIED IT as dick Irvin stated.

Then we got to OT.

AND ONCE AGAIN. HERE WE GO

Schneider ready......passes to desjardins.

Desjardins' shot........

SCORE!!!!!!!!
DESJAAAAAAAAAARDIIIIIIIINS!!!!

And the series is a brand new one!!!

I've got goosebumps now. Magical season.

ESPN used to be a longtime supporter of hockey, and they reached the apex in the 90s. Those black and white ads were the best (and I'm not positive, but the forerunner to the This Is SportsCenter ads). Huge fan of Gary Thorne, who was born to call hockey games.

Then ESPN lost the contract and has been on a decades long mission to pretend the NHL doesn't exist. Tom Mees is rolling over in his grave. I used to love him anchoring the coverage in the 80s.
