They are promoting it some again, with the daily 3 minute segment.
The younger crew has no idea how great Mees was. He was amazing especially his 1:00 SportsCenter alone.
I doubt it is on youtube, but when Boston and Edmonton played in the Garden during the 88 SCF they had to fill time due to power outage he was doing a "remote" from outside the Garden. He told the crowd to shut up so he could do his job. (paraphrasing)
I also seem to remember that they thought Boston had the advantage due to the rink being way smaller. He would crack jokes about it and "size" doing Boston games at the Garden.

LOL at the Islander bandwagon fans coming out of the woodwork.
Not me man. I was there in the lean years where it cost more to pay for parking than it did to see the game. I remember them letting you move down from the nosebleeds to close to the glass to make the place look crowded for TV cameras.

That's okay you haven't missed much since Pierre Turgeon left..... And the islanders don't have a barn it's more like a neglected tool shed.
I like the neglected tool shed.

Nice to see the Islanders be competitive again. Damn shame that they r moving to Brooklyn

It kind of fits them though...
Nobody cares about Brooklyn so it will ensure nobody cares about the Isles.
Are they going to keep the Isles name? Or will they rebrand themselves?

Good for u for not being a bandwagoner and sticking with them.

So much for the classic logo with long island then? Remember those awful logos with the mAriner in a slicker suit way back?
Posted on 2/20/15 at 12:15 pm to Fat Bastard
I swear Van De Kamp sued them for defaming their product. Their teams were worse than the logo. Then Millbury really suckered punched them and traded off anyone decent they had. Then they got scammed by a broke man to buy the team.
Only in New York.

I thought they said they were keeping most the same? They're getting a black and white Nets style 3rd alt jersey.
quote:
"The Islanders plan to maintain their current name, logo and primary colors of orange, white and blue. There are, however, plans down the line for a third jersey for the team that could draw from the Nets' signature black-and-white look."

The Caps sweaters of the 1990's and the Buffalo head thing the Sabres had in same period were god awful.
But the Maple Leaf sweater is the worst of all time.
They can not make up their mind is it Purple or Blue?

I will say that it does feel weird being at the Nassau Coliseum when its sold out. Never really saw that before, When I was living on LI from around 2007-2014, those games were empty, now they are packed.

I hated the Gordons Fisherman logo.

Good. That will keep the bandwagon fans down to a minimum.

That is the most ignorant thing if you want extra revenue and money to spend on facilities and travel.
Which face it, the Islanders need.

Rags win.
Bruins fall to the Blues.
Penguins are now in a wildcard spot

Canfan is alive! Don't feel bad about the leafs, I mean, they have talented players - for whatever reason SMS wants Phaneuf and his $8M contract as an example.

Agreed...but I did like our alternate jersey during that time:
Going to the game in a couple hours...it is going to suck because of the weather...but have to see Caps-Isles...
Don't forget...12:30 puck drop
