So tired of Hamilton and Merc. Red Bull needs to step it up. They are getting embarrassed on race day strategy week after week. Max is doing all he can. Not really fair to him.

Red Bull has had every opportunity this year and they have tanked.

Merc is not on a different level from RBR. RBR is just not getting it done.

So this will be what year 8 in a row potentially of Mercedes being champions if this trend keeps up? But yeah Red Bull is on their level completely.

Car wise they are. Even Marko has said the Red Bull car is faster.

If they can keep this battle up all season I'll buy into that. I just feel like every year we think it's going to be a battle then Mercedes pulls something out of thin air. I know Max is getting annoyed at this point.

But why can't they mirror strategy?

If Merc pits sooner than RBR's planned stop, why doesn't RBR pit the lap after Merc does? It would pretty much level the strategy issue and make it just about car and driver.

I don’t think it would have made a difference.

Mercs ability to adjust is off the charts. Maybe the spending cap changes that in the future.

Hopefully RBR doesn't fall off like Ferrari did in 2018

Not sure RBR had a new set of mediums.

Don't think max really had a shot today tbh.

Even before Hamilton's second stop, he was eventually going to pass him anyways.

Bottas second stop cost him a chance at 2nd. He was closing in on max as well.

It was obvious during testing and qualifying. Mercedes pace on mediums was so much better than anyone else. Red bull really needed the softs

But red bull can't compete if their second driver can't be near the top

It’s too late by then. There’s so many car setup differences, driver lines and strategy, etc that play into how tires behave that just aligning stops won’t do it. They need the drivers hitting on all cylinders to get these cars lined out better. Love or hate Hamilton, he’s the best at giving feedback to the engineers and picking a winning setup.

They didn't have the pace to do the same strategy as the mercs. Needed something to break their way and it didn't.

Wonder if Red Bull pulled the trigger too early on that first stop.

Lando had a big falloff as well. Wonder the story there.

It’s hard so say (also I haven’t watched the race yet). But I typically assume if they’re stopping it’s because the tire integrity has degraded enough to warrant moving on to the next phase of the plan. Where I think RBR is struggling is balancing downforce, vehicle dynamics and driver style to manage tires. Max is a great driver but he’s aggressive and I don’t think they’ve figured out the sweet spot yet and if anything seem to be regressing.

This should be obvious in the bottas/verstappen results this year. Last year bottas was competitive with verstappen and finished ahead of him a decent amount. This year he is clearly nowhere near verstappen. Everyone acknowledges verstappen is and has been a much better driver, the drastic difference in results must be explained by the cars.

He was keeping Hamilton behind him, Im sure the undercut was a concern though.

Saw this just posted as well
