Wonder if Red Bull pulled the trigger too early on that first stop.

Lando had a big falloff as well. Wonder the story there.

It’s hard so say (also I haven’t watched the race yet). But I typically assume if they’re stopping it’s because the tire integrity has degraded enough to warrant moving on to the next phase of the plan. Where I think RBR is struggling is balancing downforce, vehicle dynamics and driver style to manage tires. Max is a great driver but he’s aggressive and I don’t think they’ve figured out the sweet spot yet and if anything seem to be regressing.

Car wise they are. Even Marko has said the Red Bull car is faster.

This should be obvious in the bottas/verstappen results this year. Last year bottas was competitive with verstappen and finished ahead of him a decent amount. This year he is clearly nowhere near verstappen. Everyone acknowledges verstappen is and has been a much better driver, the drastic difference in results must be explained by the cars.

He was keeping Hamilton behind him, Im sure the undercut was a concern though.

Saw this just posted as well

A communication error with his engineer made Verstappen to come in earlier than expected on his first stop, according to Helmut Marko (Sky). That's why the tyres were not ready. #F1 #SpanishGP

Well there is no way Gene Haas finishes season.

Bring on Uralkali-Rich Racing for the Russian GP latrr this year.

Saw no Driver of the Day announcement so Mazespin trolls must have struck again.

I honestly think Haas would be better to field a Indy car team than a F1 team. It’s way cheaper and I think the resources would there to field a competitive team.

It was Hamilton with like 22%. When they first showed the voting results with a couple laps left it was verstappen 18 Hamilton 17.

First time I can recall Hamilton winning in a couple years. He didn’t win once last year I think.

Gasly had a great race. I didn't think he was going to make it into the points. But he's definitely rehabbing his reputation, plus the AlphaTauri still looks strong. After his lower-than-expected qualifying, I thought AT was falling behind and getting passed up by Alpine, but it looks like they are right there after the top four teams, even if the points don't show it.

Gasly has looked solid all season. I’m happy for him. Also note the second Red Bull car fares about the same regardless of driver.

I saw somewhere else: “listening to Mick and his engineer interact is like listening two two golden retrievers interact”

Not sure RBR had a new set of mediums.

At that point in the race they should have pitted and gone to softs. We’re talking lap 51-52.

ERA: if Verstappen immediately pits the following lap the race is a virtual dead heat and he’s on softs compared to Hamilton’s mediums. At least he has a fighting chance. Instead they say Hungary and let the exact same result occur.

Exactly, Horner should have had a plan B ready to go... Max should have PIT next lap but they got caught with their pants down. They even acknowledged it as soon as it happened over team radio.

That loss is on Horner and leadership.

Along those lines, who is better at their craft:

Hamilton as a driver or Wolff as team principal?

What's bad is VER was letting them know.

People will say RBR didn't have the pace, but they had track position and Merc just sat there and picked at them until RBR faultered. RBR lost this, no way they had to become a sitting duck.

Good question. Would one be what they are without the other?

Saw some talking head make the comment that this win shows how much faith HAM has in Merc, but also shows how much faith Merc had in HAM. 25 seconds in the 23 laps. That is sick no matter how you look at it.

Wolff is certainly right when it comes to loyalty. If he signs a driver, they drive for the full season.
