Back up plane in case Max lost. Checo and one of the Alpha Tauri cars were going to recreate the lap one Max/Lewis incident to submit as part of their complaint.

They say because his engine was going to die and RB was concerned the safety car would stay out another lap if he died on track.

That was so bizarre to me…
Engine issue. Team retired him to prevent a possible elongated saftey car, or another safety car.

Maybe an unpopular take but I feel like Max and Red Bull deserved this title for what they did all year. Seemed like Merc struggled a bit early on and then found insane pace in Brazil to make this an actual title race. Max also got unlucky in Baku and Silverstone so it sorta evens out. I completely understand the fury of Hamilton fans. I get it. But I really do think max and Red Bull were the best all year. So at least that part feels correct.

I’m impressed by how Lewis has handled this. He’s not nearly the a-hole he’s made out to be and a fierce and worthy competitor that’s an asset to the sport.
