We also learned that James Allison has been "promoted" away from the team technical director to overall Mercedes technical director. I hope they still have him do the youtube videos because he was awesome at those. I've also seen rumblings that his move was to help with spending cap regulations. I think I read Red Bull is planning similar moves.

the-race.com article on Allison's exit. Holy cow that guy has some self awareness.

Are the sprint qualifying races confirmed yet? I've seen conflicting reports, some read like it's a done deal but others sound like they just reached an agreement in principle.

Looks like these will happen at some point. The financials are taken care of to pull them off so unless Merc/RBR/Ferrari veto they will likely go through.

Ferrari looked strong today. Nice pace on the longer stints.

That they did.

If nothing else, should be a strong atmosphere this weekend. Not forecasting a great race though.

Rain could be the only thing that mixes the field up on Sunday.

Four teams separating from the pack early in the season. Shame for Norris.

Should be a good race tomorrow. Clear Mercedes has found more pace though. Think they have a slight edge over red bull. However everyone is really close this year.

Norris bombed the hell out of that last lap. Sucks it was deleted, but he put together some great laps on the softs in Q2 as well.

First 3 rows all mixed up, nice to see. These kerbs are going to destroy the cars tomorrow.

Perez will probably slip into first early tomorrow.

Looks that way on the hard tires. Seems like only looks like 3 to 4 tenths advantage for Perez on softs. Tough track for an early pit as well.

Perez will be the hare to wear Hamilton down for Max to take the race to him in the second half, barring some inopportune safety cars.

Perez will likely now be on a 2 stopper so Hamilton's race is still with Verstappen.

Bottas being so far back means he might not be able to put pressure on Max with an undercut.

If it rains I would think Merc has the pit advantage just because they should be able to double stack as the track dries.

After seeing everyone flying off the track this week I really expect a few safety cars. Whoever flinches first may really leave themselves exposed.

More F1 in the USA

Crappy area for the race...the stadium and surrounding area sucks in itself.

As for the race today, will be interesting to see the Mercedes/Red Bull and McClaren/Ferrari battles.

I hate the Indy races in parking lots because it looks so cheap compared to a proper race track. Interested to see what they do with this. Miami is very international and has a ton of potential.
