I don't get the Perez predictions. Max will get clear separation—Perez won't push or clash with him like Rosberg-Hamilton or Webber-Vettel, but I don't think he'll be a bust. He's a seasoned vet who has improved over the years. His job will be to finish just behind Max (and to beat Bottas), and he'll do a lot better than any of Max's previous teammates.
And if he gets whiny, Red Bull will put him in his place: "Checo, you need to drive faster."

Agreed and I think he's good enough to do that.

I don't mind too many of liberties that Neflix takes, but anyone who has watched four minutes of F1 knows they are friends.

I would also say he signed on with Red Bull being fully aware that verstappen is their #1 driver, or at least he should have. And he’s been kind of a journeyman that’s never really accomplished anything in his career to indicate he’s better than verstappen.
I don’t think either of those things are true with vettel at racing point or ricciardo at mclaren. To me those 2 situations are far more likely to be problematic.

More drama. Love it.
Oh, and here is my annual post saying that they need to bring back Grid Girls.

I don't think pace is his problem. Last season he showed serious pace and was really managing his tire wear well (as did Vettel). Hamilton did a shitty job managing his tires last year and it nearly cost him a race.
I wonder if DAS had something to do with Mercedes problems with tire wear because no other team seemed to have the issue to the extreme that they did.

Yep. Hamilton finished the race on three tires IIRC.

To be clear Netflix, I believe specifically Grojean's wife, said it was 2 min. 43 sec. from the moment of the crash until they showed that he was out of the car and alive, not that he was in the fire for that duration, that for 2 min. 43 sec. she thought he was dead. Which does make sense, there was a long period with no word whatsoever then suddenly images of Grojean sitting in the medical car. That period with no word was brutal for normal fans, I can't imagine what it must've been like for his family. I still to this day can't believe that he not only lived but he walked away with relatively minor injuries considering the nature of the crash.

I agree with this, I think Checo is better than Albon, Red Bull seems to have calmed what was said to be a really difficult car to drive(see Gasly & Albon's struggles). I don't expect Checo to really take the fight to Max, I think his job will be to put himself in Mercedes pit window and force them away from their strategy and have it be a legit 2 vs 2 instead of Max vs Ham/Bot like it's been the last 2 years. Honestly if he can do this I expect Checo to be around for the occasional podium and, perhaps when the stars align, a win or two.
I do find it a bit weird that Red Bull has kept Albon so close, I realize he's the reserve driver but it's almost as if they're treating him as a rebound boyfiend incase the new boyfiend in Checo doesn't pan out like they hope.
And Carlos and Lando hate each other so much they played a round of golf yesterday together.

I think what contributes is that in an accident like that they are not going to put much footage on the car unless they know the driver is ok.

Fair enough. I just meant that if Perez gets whiny on the radio or in the press, they will find a way to take a dig at him. Helmut and Christian can be very blunt.

He went 40 laps on the tires though. Not like he burned through them early.
And multiple other happened before his for the same reason.

I admit I haven't researched it, but is ESPN no longer using the Sky feed and announcers ? TV says ESPNU Live and announcers are different.
Edit...
I guess it's still Sky after watching more of FP1. Just different announcers.

We’re back boys!!!
And as expected, Mercs were sandbagging during testing.
Max looked damn good in FP1

I'm still not certain they're sandbagging, I'm not expecting them to be far off but I don't think they'll be the dominate force, atleast not yet, that they were last year. The Red Bull looks far more steady than Mercedes this morning. Hell the McLarens look pretty good as well.
