A statement from the FIA read: “The Stewards reviewed video and telemetry evidence. Cars 33 [Verstappen] and 44 [Hamilton] entered turn 9 with Car 33 in the lead and Car 44 slightly behind and on the inside.

“Car 44 was on a line that did not reach the apex of the corner, with room available to the inside. When Car 33 turned into the corner, Car 44 did not avoid contact and the left front of Car 44 contacted the right rear of Car 33. Car 44 is judged predominantly at fault.”

Said this about 4 pages back.

It is on Hamilton for going into the corner too hot and not being able to control the car when Max came across to shut the door on the inside.

Again wit the "oversteer, he lost control" bullshite.

No, that is not in line with the FIA's official verdict. You're a squirmy little fricker. I'll give you that.

It would be understeer, and yeah, if it wasn't understeer then it is still on HAM for not backing out to get control.

I think it is a result of racing hard that shite like this happens. I just don't see where it was an intentional act to wreck him. Much like the contact two straights before, it was contact resulting from hard racing.

Verstappen never backs down and Hamilton didn't this time. Something had to give.

Verstappen this year reminds me of Nico in 2016, just with more talent. An attitude that is just about going and taking it no matter what.

Well, it wasn't. They didn't say anything about loss of control, which they absolutely would do in their official statement.

They also wouldn't penalize him if that were true.

I guess that could be true. Not having any input from Hamilton other than telemetry and steering wheel input might adjust what info they put. Always seems the technical jargon is when they interview the drivers before releasing a statement.

If he was understeering they wouldn't? I think they would if his actions caused the understeering.

Trying to think of a similar incident in the recent past

Max's instagram account unfollowed Lewis.

That's awesome and plays right into Hamilton's hands. Hamilton has a lot of experience playing mind games with fellow drivers (Alonso/Rosberg) and coming out on top, and he will bring all that to bear the rest of this awesome season, as its clear over the past few races that Mercedes is unable to beat Red Bull in a straight fight and every little advantage will help. This isn't the old impulsive 2007-08 Lewis Hamilton and I think he will enjoy seeing Max hot under the helmet itching for revenge. Have a feeling this will see the return of #CrashTappen and there is a good chance Max will implode trying to get back at Lewis.

Seeing statements from FIA, Merc, and Redbull around racist statements to Hamilton…

God, people are so fricking stupid, now they are just giving Hamilton what he wants, he’s the “victim” now and we will have to endure more segments from him Sunday mornings.

Also, what a fricking joke from FIA, saying that those making the statements should be held accountable…. I think the people making comments are trash, but its their right to do so. It helps identify the losers in this world.

Has the crash from the stands viewpoint been posted yet? Gives you a real sense of how dangerous that move was by Hamilton. I’m still amazed that Max walked away without injury.

I’d be surprised if Verstappen doesn’t have a brain injury. That was a big hit.

Watching the various replays in slow-mo, that tire came really close to hitting the halo a couple of times. At that speed, I'm not sure how much protection it really offers.

That's a punt lol? At least call it a squib.

The bickering in this thread is a bit out of hand. Not sure why you guys take this shite so personally.

Maybe back off of each other a little? It's okay to have differing opinions on the move and outcome.
