I found the midfield battle fascinating today and if not for a questionable 5 second penalty Norris could very well have taken second place. Even the battle for 10th between Russell and Alonso was thrilling stuff.

As a longtime casual fan that's followed the racing more closely this year, what's been interesting is how the pendulum has shifted from Red Bull making mistakes early in the year to Mercedes making them lately with Hamilton's big one at Baku being a big surprise.
Backed to back races at Austria has kind of killed the momentum but I'm looking forward to seeing how Red Bull handle the pressure now that they are on top.

France he passed HAM in the last few laps, and it was a hell of a race

I enjoyed watching Perez as well. Seems like weird stuff always happens to him and then he has to claw his way back up the lineup.

How is verstappen’s dominance this year any different from Hamilton’s previously?
It isn't. But Merc Man Bad takes over and people think Verstappen winningnby 30 seconds is good racing compared to Hamilton winning by 30 seconds.
Most races this year have been snoozefests.

At the top yes...but the 4-12 has been crazy fun to watch..
Ferrari vs McLaren
Alpine vs Aston Martin vs Alpha Tauri
Heck, even Gio and Kimi have had their moments for Alfa Romeo...

I know the Max has been dominating the past few races, but until this year Max had won three reces in a season once. Hamilton has already won 3 this year with half the season to go. Maybe RB will dominate from here on out but I think the biggest thing from last few years is everyone went into every race expecting Lewis to win. That’s not the case this year

People are confusing the last two races at Red Bull’s home with the whole season.

I’m enjoying Hamilton more this year than ever. He’s so good, and now he doesn’t have the best car and the team are having to take chances they didn’t in the past. It’s forced him into mistakes on the track, but he’s still right there with Max at the top.

They have a rule about running someone of the track. Norris 100% did that. Not questionable.
You can argue if it should be a rule, but he most certainly violated it.

Eh. I don’t know. Norris has a right to the racing line. He’s in front. I think sergios you can make more an argument for. I’m just not sure what lando is suppose to do? Perez is obviously behind trying to dive in. That’s on Sergio.
It was more of a call you see in Indycar.

Lots of grumbling that Melbourne will once again be cancelled. Seems a bit silly considering it’s not until November but Australia is still very restrictive with Covid. Formula 1 is wanting to make sure if they show up they’re good to go, and Australia is telling F1 they’ll be good to go as long guarantee they show up with zero positive Covid cases, and that’s impossible to guarantee.

Like I said, if you don't like the rule bitch about that.
He 100% pushed him off the track into the gravel.
Did the same earlier as well, but there was pavement in that situation.
Using your thinking, since Perez was ahead going into the corner the racing line is his...

Was actually ahead going into the corner.

I still don’t understand what Lando is supposed to do there. Does he not have the right to the racing lane?
Eta line

Doesn't Perez?
You know, the guy that is actually on the racing line?
Pro tip-Passing someone often means taking their line away.
All Norris had to do was cede the line as Perez had position. Instead he drove from center out as if no one was there. And he obviously knew Perez was there as they were even, wheel to wheel.
Can tell the vast majority of race fans have never actually turned a wheel in anything other than a go cart with bumpers all around.

He 100% did not. He had the position and the racing line, he’s not obligated to make room for Perez trying a ridiculous overtake on the outside of a sharp curve.

At no point was Perez ever ahead of Norris going into the corner. Norris had inside position going into a turn and started braking earlier to maintain that position and navigate the turn properly on his line. Perez braked later to try a ridiculous overtake that required him to carry more speed than he could handle while taking the longer route through the curve, and he the stewards incorrectly rewarded his foolishness.

Thanks pro. I’m not one so that’s why I’m asking. How is Perez outside line the racing line?

Sure, if he actually had the line.

At no point in that turn did Perez have the racing line.

I don’t pretend to be an expert. You seem to think you are but at the same time say Perez had the racing line

You have no idea what you are talking about.
And if you try that move against someone with fenders they are likely to dump your arse when they get back up to you.
The line, which seems to be so in question, is from the inside of the corner at the apex to track out, the edge of the track. If another car is there you do not get to just drive through them.
Go back to your go carts.
