Obviously Hamilton is a great driver but he whines to damn much and seems to pull some shady moves when he feels as if he is being bested by a lesser driver.

As a hamilton fan, I get this criticism, but looking at the history of F1, it seems like virtually all the greats have made moves like that against "lesser" drivers.

Shumi was dirty af at times
Vettel has plenty of controversial moves
Hamilton obviously
Senna played the points game at times versus just beating the guy straight up
Prost same as above

Yeah seems like he has a side to him for sure. Albon was legitimately challenging for a podium finish so the 5 second penalty I thought wasn’t enough.

If Albon is more experienced that crash doesn't happen.

Not sure if the result of the contact is what played into the penalty. HAM was also full lock, so not really sure what his other option was to get out the way.

He wasnt at full lock. He squeezed him off the track and hit him.

The onboard from Lando's last lap is a good watch, they had to have been pushing that engine to the ragged edge to close up under 5 seconds, his fastest lap was 0.8 seconds faster than anyone else that day.

Not placing blame on Albon when I say that. Saying he had an opportunity to avoid and pass HAM shortly after. He had the better car. HAM did the same on Albon at the start.

Right, but the wheel has way more rotation than just 90 degrees each way.

Hamilton doing donuts

Steering wheel lock is probably different for abu dhabi and red bull ring.

Just seems more like a racing incident that was penalized harshly because it screwed up Albon's race.

I don't think Perez was even penalized for his turn in on Norris which seemed much more egregious. It didn't change the outcome of the race though.

To be fair, I think Checo deserved a penalty for his move on Lando. When was the infraction to get the Pit Lane penalty? I didn’t hear much about it until it was assessed.

That was strange to come so long after the pit. Or at least it seems it did.

They said it was a speed limit issue so I guess it was on the way in. Him and Lando drag raced to the end so if Perez got the penalty when leaving I would have thought Lando would too.

Interesting to see which teams improved their qualifying times from last year and which ones slowed. Obviously the Ferrari engines aren't using whatever trick they had established but Red Bull being off the pace is a little surprising.

I love Albon's response calling Hamilton a sore loser right when it happened.

Combined with what also happened last year in Brazil, Albon has every right to be pissed at Hamilton.

You think 10 seconds? I think 5 seconds was fine

Idk man, these dudes run each other off the road all the time... Albon got it at a bad place with no concrete run off area

He should have waited till the next DRS zone and flew by Ham with ease while giving the middle finger

But Merc has the straight line speeds, would Albon have been able to pass within the DRS zones? And I agree with Albon’s assessment of Hamilton, the dude is a sore loser. Only overly gracious when he wins, which is often and rightly so, but damn he sulks like a spoiled brat when he doesn’t finish first.

Pretty sure he was on new softs so he likely would have had the advantage to a Merc taking care of their gearbox.

Like when his engineer told him to stay off the curbs and his reply was "But Bottas is going on the curbs more than me." Dude can drive, but he can also bitch.

I love Albon as a driver, and I 100% think Hamilton was shitty for doing what he did. That being said, Albon was on a set of fresh soft tires while Hamilton was still running on the hard tires. DRS + softs would have seen Albon overtake Hamilton on a straight if he had been more patient. Especially since Hamilton was being directed not to drive onto any of the kerbs due to the sensor issue that both Mercs were having.
