Maybe you should follow arena football

Why? Perhaps they should take weather into consideration when calling plays and planning strategy.

Or your super bowl hopes die because you can't adjust to changing conditions.
If you build a team to play in identical conditions, perhaps we will need the equivalence of Bowling Alley playing fields. For gosh sakes keep the sunlight out, it might blind some receivers. Keep all outside air out, a breeze might deflect a long punt. and figure out a way to muffle crowd noise that might distract a QB with more acute hearing.

Fair take. But so many coaches and coordinators today are programmed and basically do what they do, period, and go “tilt” when they are placed in a position where they need to do something else.

I’m an Alabama fan and we couldn’t run the ball for caca this year because our running backs were arse and our OL was not just arse but was 180 degrees removed from DeBoer’s and Grubb’s ideal OL. But people in our fan base were screaming that they should have done something differently to take advantage of what they had, not what they wanted, but that’s not their deal, they do what they do.

I’m not saying that’s ideal mind you, I just think it’s the way it is.

You're not giving any credence to what I'm saying. I know that it requires adjustments. I understand that both teams play in it. I had no dog in the fight except a fan of football.

It sucks to see the season come down to that. All I'm saying. Everyone slipping. No one can gain a yard. Kickers can't make 35+ fgs. It's a totally different game than what they played for 15 weeks, and it's for conference glory and super bowl.

The mentality used to be dealing with conditions wss a part of the game, not getting in the way if it.

It's not a science experiment to be repeated under tightly controlled conditions.

Neither of these teams play a 1960s brand of football for the 17 regular season games, but yesterday turned into a George Halas' Bears against Vince Lombardi's Packers pushing match.

An NFL QB turned around and threw the ball backwards yesterday before it was snowing

And has been proven possible in a dome.

I somehow agree and disagree at the same time.

1. as a fan living in South Louisiana, I prefer to attend football games, especially day games, indoors.

2. I have no issue with northern teams using outdoor stadiums to give themselves a strategic advantage in the playoffs.

Extreme weather generally makes for a “worse” product from a technical execution perspective, but it’s also a fun and entertaining novelty sometimes. I could go either way on it.

I don’t think the weather was the issue with NE-DEN tho lol

His point was that the game in 2026 has progressed far beyond the old days of “snow and ice bowls” as far as strategy and play calling and execution to the point where it’s unfair to expect present-day teams to regress to the past and to tradition when so much is at stake.

This so much explains the under 35 crowd. Conform, change, reshape things to my wants, abilities and limitations.

Football was not designed to be played in cold weather cities in late January. Elements are part of the game from September through December. You play all season and whether you go to a Super Bowl comes down to a rugby scrum in a blizzard.
