I could be in the minority, but I distinguish between foreigners who played college ball in the states and those who didn't. Nash and Hakeem both starred in NCAA college ball and were accustomed to the American game before making the jump to the NBA, so I distinguish somewhat between them and Dirk.

How about someone like Sabonis, then?

He is one of the best Euro players ever, he just didn't have one of the best NBA careers.

And Drazen died too young.

But I was really talking about adjusting the curve to account for their lack of college experience.

Steve Nash.

Like I said, I distinguish between those who played NCAA ball but even then I think Dirk has the edge, and it's not debatable if he wins a title.

Dirk is the best player in the West.

Durant.

Gimme one to start my team with right now and I take Durant. But Gimme one for this playoff year and I take Dirk; he's playing incredible right now.

quote:

Dirk will be the best player in any series he plays in this playoffs, unless they play the Heat

This one is debatable if he plays against Lebron and Wade or Rose. He's been as good any of them in the playoffs so far.

quote:

Dirk could be a top 15 player of all-time IF the Mavs can win a title

Top twenty at best.

Regardless, he's still one of the GOATs if you're top 15 or top 20 in a sport played as long as basketball.

Dirk has been the best player in the playoffs this year, followed by Randolph, James, and Rose.

This although CP3 would be in the discussion if he had any help on his team.

I would take Randolph over Dirk at this point. Without Randolph the GRIZZ go NOWHERE. You saw the other day that the Mavs can win a game BIG without Dirk being a factor.

The ball still ran through Dirk a lot in game 4. He sucked the D in because the Lakers had no answer to guard him, and then he trusted his teammates to make the shots, and they did. Of the best players in these playoffs he seems to be the only one who can get his in an efficient manner almost every night.

No I didn't

ETA: And I am not saying one is more valuable to their team than the other, I'm saying he's been the best player in the playoffs.

Yeah, I don't think this can be argued.

You just love to argue and play devil's advocate when it comes to anything Mavs/Dirk related.

I would take Dirk all day over Kevin Durant in these playoffs.

Dirk gets a ring and he is most defintely in the discussion for Top 15 of all time by the time his career ends.

After all is said and done, you really think Nash is better than Dirk?

Why does he need a ring in order to be in the discussion for top 15 of all time?

I have no idea why it should matter, but it does. Guys get elevated in these types of discussions by how many rings they have.

Just because others make stupid mistakes doesn't mean that you should.
